We had whatever yahoo virus scanner came with installing SBC/ATT/Yahoo (whatever name it is these days), but still got a virus through. Has anyone had experience with AVG virus scanner? Is it better? If not please recommend the best free one out there.

AVG is okay, they have a useful detection skill. i believe AVG has a free domicile version out to the widely used public, and works like a charm. in case you want extra useful anti-virus secure practices use BitDefender 2008 complete protection =, even if it would nicely be slightly spendy.

I have used AVG for years, but recently switched to AVAST which is also free but seems to work better with my computer. I have had only one virus which AVG caught and cleaned up. Both seem to work fine.

I use AVG Free. Love it.
Also, keep in mind you need other software nowadays. Use some kind of anti-trojan and anti-spyware software, like SpyBot S&D, and Microsoft Anti-Spyware. All together they should help keep you protected.

Avg is really good...another one is EZtrust, but you have to go through XP security center to get it free

it is highly recommended on www.bleepingcomputer.com as well as some of the Answers on this yahoo thingy. it's very popular...oh i do use it...they also recommend that you only have one anti virus program because they could conflict with each other.
