Ok, obviously any civil person would say, "feed the starving children", and I agree. I'd love to be Superman and save the whole world, but honestly, when it really comes down to it, if any one person just fell on that kind of money, they are taking care of number ONE first- I don't care how selfless they claim to be. me personally, I can honestly say that a few million would tie me over for life, no one really needs a billion dollars, let alone 4.5 billion. Secondly, yes it is true that millions of children are dying in Africa, yeah that's an issue, but not our issue. And hey, I'm black, I know where I come from, but we are in no position to help any other countries right now. If i had that kind of money, I would take care of HOME first, There are plenty of starving children to feed here in the good ol' US of A. And that's what kills me people are like "feed the starving children in India!" and I'm like, "feed the hungry kid around the corner". Does ANYONE feel what I'm sayin? If we were PERFECT, then yes, feed other countries, but as the price of food and gas increases, and the value of the dollar decreases, and on top of that people from New Orleans STILL have no place to live (just because it isnt on the news dont mean it isnt still a problem), I think we need to chill out on the charity stuff and get our own shyt together. THE END

Buy the USS Ronald Reagan, of course.
So, we can maintain a free society that will be capable of generating more income to help others.
Otherwise...we would be invaded, conquered an live under a ruthless dictator.
I sincerely hope you are not referring to US Sailors as sun bathers...you have no idea what it takes to keep a country free. You take it for granted that we are a free country...freedom is not free! Travel the world and ask Afghani women if freedom is a right...ask the Cuban workers...or ask those African children you want to rescue. How did they get that way? Because brutal, ruthless and corrupt people with big guns oppress them...destroy the land and steal whatever they can. You want people like that to take over the US, also...then who will help?

Why send our dollars to Africa? How much longer is the US to be expected to take care of the rest of the world? Other nations for too long have literally bled our country of billions of dollars for humanitarian purposes, without correcting the problems. They only treat the symptoms. Why are the people starving? This isn't a condition that just recently evolved... it's been that way for decades.
If not for the carrier, my vote would be to take care of issues within our own country and quit being the benefactor so readily to the rest of an unappreciative world.

Hey, what about the starving people right here in America?? What about people with little or no medical insurance, people living in slums, the people who are still displaced from Hurricane Katrina? We cannot expect to take care of the world if we can't even be bothered with our own citizens. Yes, I know the little African children with distended bellies make for a better photo opportunity, but their problem ultimately lies in political turmoil that we can never hope to end, combined with years of drought, famine, and poor farming practices. I want our leaders to focus on US, not on some country on the other side of the world that most of us will never see.

You have posed 2 completely different questions. Yes, if I had all that money, I would do as much as possible to end poverty and all that it encompasses, including starving people. But, the 2nd question is a little more complicated than you seem to know. We enjoy the freedoms we have, including the ability and opportunity to earn money based on our free enterprise system, because we are protected by a strong defense. I guess it is like the age-old proverbial question: which came first... the chicken or the egg?

I'm not sure the choice is one or the other, but I go with feeding starving children. I can't understand why anything should be named after Reagan. But if we have to name something after him, it is more appropriate to name a military vessel that will help kill people. It would be hypocritical to name something like a school or hospital after him.

FEED THE STARVING CHILDREN IN AFRICA!
Should I buy 8000 square foot house or should I buy 8000 square feet of land?
I believe that the plane or house is going to create environmental issues and oil spending issues.
I believe that food or land is going to create a change in society.
