I just want to learn very basic code to use when I insert code into my website..from affiliates, or links, etc.

As mentioned already, W3Schools is a great place for starters. They have a lot of tutorials that make it easy to understand how everything works. In addition to the html, though, don't forget to check out the CSS section. HTML is mainly just for content, but cascading style sheets are what you use to design them with extra colors, fonts and spacing.

Get a book, it doesn't cost much plus it quick good reference material.
