I have checked out other solutions like proactive but I am hoping to find something that really works but doesn't cost around $40-$50 every month.

There are no cheap home remedies that really cure acne. You can wash your face till the skin comes off but that won't do it. The best thing is a prescription called acutane but it is expensive and has a lot of side effects.

You could try Vitamin A 10,000 mg. Just be careful not to overdose on it.

Also I see people telling you not to eat certain foods. Again hooey. Most cases of acne are chemical imbalances in your body and not related to food at all and as I said earlier, you can wash your face till the skin comes off and it won't help. Even people with dry skin have acne sometimes. Yes wash your face and use a good oil free moisturizer but don't dry it out by over doing it. Once in the morning and once at night is all you need. If like someone said you're exercising and feel sweaty during the day then yes again wash your face even if it's just clear water.

By the way, the above answers are hooey. They will dry up on their own so tooth paste, if it even dries them up isn't fixing the problem. The best answer was tea tree oil but again it's a temporary band aid. Try the Vitamin A but don't give up too easilly, it may take time but it will cure the problem. Acutane is a vitamin a derivative.

I am a 44 year old woman who has been using the same face regimen since the dermatologist I used to see as a teenager recommended it. I use plain Ivory soap to wash my face and scrub it with a Buf Puf. The soap only costs about one dollar for 3 bars and the Buf Puf costs around 3-4 dollars, but lasts for months. If your skin gets dry or breaks out, use the Clean and Clear moisturizer which has salicylic acid in it after you wash your face. Wash your face (or wherever you have the acne) at least twice a day.
I have done this for nearly 30 years and have less than one pimple every year or two. You wanted simple and this is it!! Good Luck!!

I have found a few things to work back when I was in high school. First thing you do is realize when you sweat. If you feel like your face is sweating, raise it off. Don't over scrub or your face would be sore and red. At night I would use rubbing alcohol to clean up the face, use lightly. Too much will cause the redness. Don't spend too much time on it. Second is to put on a few dabs of cortisone cream. This clears up the open sores and takes care of the redness. This is only on major parts. DO NOT Cover your face with it. If that doesn't work, replace the rubbing alcohol with a mild facial soap and try that. It will take a while to work.

Hope everything works out.

What I'm using certainly doesn't cost even forty dollars. I use the Clear Skin Regimen at http://www.acne.org. It's a non-profit (so it's FREE), the guy who created used to suffer from pimples himself. The system works wonders on my face, and its helped countless other people. The best part is that you don't have to order or buy any expensive treatments, everything you need for the Regimen can be found at your local drugstore. Find out more at the website.

In general, for clear skin it helps if you: don't touch/pick at your skin, drink lots of water, wash your hair frequently, change your pillowcases, exercise, wear little make-up (or if needed, hypo-allergenic makeup), and minimize stress.

Another tip is to look up online consumer reviews of acne products before you buy them, using sites like epinions.com or drugstore.com. A great website I use to get cosmetic reviews is makeupalley.com (A mostly women's site). Hope this helps!

I recently answered a question similar to this. From personal experience, if you can't afford or don't have the time or patience for a 3 step program like Proactive Solution, your local pharmacy sells a product called "Clean & Clear". It really does work wonders. Good luck!

I read this in an Ann Landers column many years ago when she was still alive. A reader wrote she used egg yolk to rid of terrible acne, yes the smelly yellow stuff. Apply to face before going to bed, Leave the yolk on for a couple of min. then rinse off. It will leave clear your skin. Do it daily for at least a week then every other day to maintain. It cleared her skin. Good luck.

forget that advice on sex....did you check out acne free products? it's the competitor to proactive...you can buy it at walgreens, around 20 dollars for the 3 products: cleanser, toner and lotion, also you can find it at a cosco, priceclub for 25 dollars for a 3 mt supply....as far as home remedies, that's going to take a lot of time and dedication to clear up the acne...but avoid spices, oily foods, junk food, colas, you can have em but not daily! you can use crushed garlic cloves and apply them to the skin, mind you it will sting! but it is an anti inflammatory agent, it is also a big cleanser...use alcohol to wipe your face every other day to clean out the dirt...it is a strong chemical so avoid your eyes! and try a stress B complex tablet..that really helps to clear the skin...flush out your body by drinking lots of water daily...and eat a balanced diet...eat salads, fruits, they are nature's gifts to maintaining skin health! good luck!

Tea Tree Oil. I know, you're thinking "Oil?".

If you get a Q-tip and dab it in the Tea Tree Oil, then dab the oil on the acne head it will "dry it up". I do this and it works. Do this in the morning and the evening.

A little bit of this oil goes a very very long way. You can buy it at your supermarket in the health food section usually near where the vitamins are.

Good Luck.

Skin conditions can be an indication of many things. One of those being a sluggish liver. Take milk thistle to improve your liver function. Also take an omega 3 fatty acid like fish oil or flax oil. This can help skin conditions. Both supplements combined can cost as little as $15 per month.
