I find the 2 biggest challenges being: managing knowledge and innovation. This is where I found the Team Management Profile really helpful. The biggest insight for me was a blinding flash of the obvious - I hate them.
I hate the ever-increasing amount of information I am meant to know, gather, synthesise, analyse etc etc. I couldn't be bothered - just let me get on with it.
With innovation - who cares, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just get on with things as they are.
Although I'm still not partial to either of these things, I suppose the solution has been to:
get some insight into what the challenges are,
gain some self-awareness about my reaction to these challenges,
use that to check my blind spots
take some action to at least put it on the agenda
get some discipline about keeping it on the agenda
