There can never be too much baseball. Even in the winter there's the phenomenon of the Hot Stove League. There is something obscene about football in August or the Stanley Cup in June, and basketball drags its meaningless way on and on, and then there is all the ridiculous draft hype, but baseball is forever, it's solid and it's beautiful. There are no sports, except for the Olympics and the occasional football game, between the end of the World Series and the beginning of spring training.
Maybe if there were a few more doubleheaders things wouldn't stretch so long. But there is too much money in the single ticket price these days for owners and players to want to give up a single penny of it. We have had the 162-game season for 45 years now. It works.

The season isn't too long, attention spans are too short. The reason the baseball year comes to an end so late is the addition of the wildcard teams and the extra round of playoffs. The World Series needs to end by mid October. Deciding your champion in adverse weather is not good for baseball.
Hockey and basketball are sports that seasons are too long. The playoffs are almost as long as the regular seasons.

That's what makes baseball so great. It is a long season and a lot of things can happen. If a couple games are lost, the season is not. If a key player is injured, the season is not lost. The season has gotten longer over time, but it works. The great thing about baseball is tradition and the length of the season is one of those.

I agree, I am getting mildly bored with the season knowing that the finish is still 3 months away. But baseball is a sport rooted in tradition and the number 162 is stuck. but hey, you're complaining about a deluge of your sport instead of having too little.
But it isn't as bad as soccer and its low scoring games that are won on penalty kicks.

There's no such thing as "too much baseball". I go into a depression right around Halloween and I don't feel right until early-March, usually when pitchers and catchers report. Don't even think about shortening the season! I really don't want to up my meds!
THINK BLUE!!!

I have heard people say that is why they don't like baseball?! Personally, I just play the sports. Watching them is for when I can't move anymore, which is hopefully a long way off!

i say it is a good amount. I wish it was all year around, but the players would be burned out. I would like to see the salaries drop. The players are payed WAY TOO MUCH and baseball is becoming to expensive to go watch, espcailly in our new stadium here in st. louis.

NEVER TOO MUCH BASEBALL!!!!!!!!! If you get tired of it, just don't watch all the games. Change the channel. Baseball will still be on when you change it back! : )
