First off.... DO NOT judge a book by its cover!!!

Use common sense and get references, then discus it with him! It might be that he would be willing to help you at a very reasonable rate and wouldn't mind the change of pace from Wallyworld! That's a very in depth subject but if he's a retired teacher etc. for example? It would be VERY helpful to you!

A guess would be $10 per hr. as a starting point

Do a bit of research first though and talk to him some more! I'm not saying he is but there's a lot of weirdos in the world.... that might be some type of scam or something which might lead to a bad situation for you?

If all goes well and you proceed with it, make certain there's other people around at the time! Parents, siblings etc. close by. Don't put yourself into a situation where you would be isolated!!! If he's on the level all of it should go fairly smooth. Good luck.

I hope you're not planning to be alone with this man...you can never be too cautious. As for what to pay him for tutoring (in a very public place, such as the library), I would call some other tutors and ask what they charge (you can just act like you're interested in their services, don't tell them you're trying to figure out how much to pay some other guy). I would offer him a little bit less money than what an established tutor charges, though, since he's not really making that his business.

I honestly don't think a man that stocks candy at Wal-Mart would actually know calculus 2...
but what the heck give it a try but be careful.

theres a candy isle at walmart...?

Just make sure he isn't tutoring you alone in his apartment, if you get my drift-

Maybe it's just me, but if he really knows enough calculus 2 to be able to tutor someone, then I think he would have the smarts to get a better job than Walmart. Walmart is a no-brainer job, and they treat their employees like dirt. I can't imagine a Walmart employee really having that kind of knowledge. I'd drop him like a hot rock & never speak to him again, it gives me the creeps.

Well, make sure you know him and that he isnt a complete stranger!

Pay him what you would pay anybody else! As long as he has the knowledge and can teach you what you need to know it doesnt matter where he works, or his age!

Ask him how much is he willing to work for! Alot of people dont mind teaching the youth, so they will do it for a low cost..or even free!

I think you should give him medical, he probably doesn't want money, is probably looking for health insurance, since the Great Wall of Mart doesn't expecially like to take care of its servants.

And slap on a few home cooked meals, he is probable sick of TV dinners, which his wife so lovingly bought at 35% discount from the Mart itself.

He is probably really intelligent, and worthy, and will teach you well.

Learn well, and wisen up,
Ayerhs.

I would discuss the issue with the tutor because most are negotiable..10 dollars an hour is usually reasonable..you don't want to pay too much or too little..just discuss it with the tutor.

Pay him nothing. Unless you know his personally as a friend already, chances are he is just a creepy old dude trying to get an excuse to hang out with you and maybe talk you into some other favors he has in mind.... A stockboy that is in his 50s? Chances are he needed tutoring in calculus too so I wouldn't trust him to help me with my homework anyway!

Run, run as fast as you can!

Nevermind, this question is bogus.... check out her other question @@ http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060706203816AAr9NCz&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhDZXVGP8GAFxaMhpGZO9EqZiQNW75Au47Q--#NbUvWjO7WTGfJkdeiGAG
