It's fine, as long as you know where she is at all times. I used to stay up and watch TV till 2 am when I was 11 in the summer then sleep in till noon. It was the best summer of my life. She won't be able to do stuff like that when she gets older and has to go to work so just let her have some fun.

Everyone's family situation is different. It's important that you and your wife discuss the pros and cons together, as well as, come to an agreement. If in your family, you guys spend more time talking and being with each other in the evening until 12, and it's not cramping your and your wife's alone time, then your daughter might be enjoying her parents' company. On the other hand, if your daughter is unsupervised till 12, she might be watching too much T.V., playing too many games, getting into too much trouble. Also, is there not a reason for your daughter to get up in the morning? She might be so bored during the summer that she sleeps late and then is too awake to fall asleep at her normal bedtime. You might decide to allow your daughter to enjoy some daytime activities with a best friend and adult. Some daytime activities could be swimming, bowling, skating, volunteering, etc. May God Bless.

Maybe on the weekends is ok, but every night?? Why would a 10 yr old need or want to stay up that late??? It is better to take her out during the day ,go to the park or movies or do any other activities, make her tired during the day, and sleep at night. I occasionally let my kids stay up past midnight only to see a movie or unless we're at a party. They do go to bed late a lot during the summer but never past 11pm, at least not intentionally.

Why not..its summer, let your daughter have some freedom. But once school rolls back around then it will be back to normal bed scheduling. However I would make her stay up till midnight only on the weekends but during the weekdays I would make her go to bed at around 10:30pm at the latest.

i'd be reluctant to allow him to go back to this camp. Can he placed on the goodnights that seem as if boxers? How about a daycamp? My son is going to a particular needs camp and they are economically priced because of authorities promises. also widely used siblings attend. They bypass swimming and performance staggering fieldtrips. My son's camp is for 2 weeks 9-5 and prices one hundred fifty.00. the staff camper ratio is a million:2. The journeys contain the Franklin Institute, MLB sport (Phillies), Baltimore Aquarium excursion inner harbor mutually with dealing with ships, and Strasberg railroad. ON all the different days they swim. i'd communicate with him because he's thoroughly old to perhaps not pick to be round youthful ones with needs. a number of the toddlers at his camp are widely used, some are mildly impaired (bypass to reg ed college and instructions) to that you does not be conscious adjustments without truly observing-it really is my son, and some have extra needs.

Midnight thats a little late. Having your daughter stay up that late during the summer will only make it that much harder to get her back in the swing of things for school.I would compromise and let her stay up late on weekends only.

Well, I suppose if your wife has to deal with reseting the schedule in the school season...I suppose that's her own kettle of fish she is cooking...no?

Personally, my sons get 1 hour later for summer. It's not about having to 'control' everything. it's about me needing some time without the kids running around. Some quiet time for me and my man. Plus, children need sleep and sunshine. sunshine hours end by 10 at the latest in the summer. That could be part of your arguement too.

Sure why not but only till about a 2-4 weeks before school starts. It's always a pain getting a kid out of bed once school starts.

There are generally 2 reasons for wanting kids to go to bed early. The first involves school and studies. It is generally preferable for kids to be attentive and awake for lessons.

The second reason has to do with height and growth. It has been documented that sleep and rest is important for growth in kids and that sleeping within normal times is also important.

If you don't have either reason to justify, then let them stay up or go to bed when they want.

I would start with 12 and work my way back. Each week take 10 min. from then till she is ready for school. that way she can get use to going to bed at a reasonable time. this way it want be so hard on her all at once.
