Is it true that Bono paid over 300,000 to have a hat flown from London 1/2 way across the world???

The reason I ask is if he is asking people all over the world to stop hunger throughout the world, why would he waste so much for something so frivolous????

don't get me wrong, I'm a big Bono fan, he and Mother Theresa are 2 of my favorite people. They not only talk the talk, but they have both walked the walk, I just wondered if it was true or just a rumour

I also heard this story, but doubt that it's true. And if it is, so what? He has tons of $$, and gives huge amounts of it to children, AIDS victims & disease research. So if he wants to frivolously blow some $$, at least he spends most of it on good things. Maybe it was his lucky hat.

BUT, it does sound kinda fishy. He could put that hat in it's own first class seat, last minute, from London to LA for less than $10,000. A private jet chartered just to fly the hat would also cost less than $150,000. Even if he hired guys to drop off the hat & pick it up at $1,000 an hour, it would still cost way less than $300,000, total.
