I often wonder how my father survived. When he was born Martini's and cigarettes were a regular on the menu in households across america - pregnant or not. His nursery was painted with lead based paint. He didn't have to wear a helmet or knee pads to take in a sporting activity. His school didn't ban "tag" because they were worried about hurting another weaker child.... yadda yadda...
If you ask me - this is a bunch of crapola. The rule is KISS (Keep it simple, stupid): EVERYTHING IN MODERATION. If you want a glass of wine once a month - have it. If you want a soda or two - have it. Your body is not the same as everyone else's. You are the best judge of how you feel. What you feel - baby feels. Go by that rule and screw all this other stuff that simply has no science to back it up. My dad and the other baby boomers nearing retirement are proof that a little has no bearing if you are listening to your body - and no one else. It's a scare tactic so other morons don't go overboard. :)
Best Wishes!

I'm 8 months pregnant and they say that you are allowed 1 1/2 cups of caffeine a day. I drink one cup of coffee in the morning and for lunch I'll have a Sprite or Sierra Mist, both w/o caffeine. Caffeine is not good for the baby, it makes their hearts beat faster, just like ours. Also, they recommend you gain 30-40lbs during your pregnancy and the sugar in the soda will probably increase your weight gain. Just be careful for this.

Do you mean soda?
Well...if you are asking will it hurt the baby, no it won't unless you have gestational diabetes.
But, soda is one of the very worst things you can put into your body. It is full of high fructose corn syrup and sugar, both of which rot your teeth and add empty calories that will only make you fat.
Pregnant women are especially prone to diabetes and if you get that, you will have a high risk pregnancy that could be dangerous to both you and your baby.
You have a moral obligation to treat your body right now, so that your baby gets the best possible nutrition now while all its organs and brain are forming.
So stay off the junk.
Hope you have a beautiful, healthy baby.

yes but in moderation. You shouldn't take in too much caffeine when pregnant. I can't NOT have one, my OB said I can have 2-3 items that contain caffeine a day and I should try to avoid anymore than that.
Ask your OB if they have a recommendation on limits for you!

Sorry not good. They tell you to stop caffeine if you can. Babies can be born with caffeine with drawl just like drugs...one every once in a while for a treat is not bad, but if you are a regular I would stop.

Do Sprite or Root Beer. Neither have caffiene. And drink them straight, no artificial sweetners.
BTW, Ginger Ale is great if you're dealing with morning sickness.

Everybody is different. I am six months along and they tell me to just watch the amount I consume. You should really just check with your doctor b/c they want different people to gain different weights due these months. So I would say yes just be careful and consult your OB.

Yes it's fine, go with caffene free stuff, you can get any caffenated pop without caffene. You might want to go with Sprite or 7-Up.
