It would only say not to press it if it does something incredibly awesome when you press it. And there's no way I'm going to not find out what that is. And of course, the best way to find out is to press it and see what happens.

It's forbidden fruit. This is an idea that goes back to the very beginning of time, to Adam and Eve. People like to disobey the rules, especially if they don't know why the rules were put there in the first place. I guess you could call it curiosity, like "Why shouldn't I?" and "What are you going to do to me if I don't listen to you?"

"Because you have been down there, Neo. You know that road. You know exactly where it ends."
One knows what will happen if one leaves the button as it is... nothing happens. But true knowledge comes when one pushes the forbidden button... dealing with the consequences improvising solutions... falling from paradise... who knows...

Our curiousity is a dangerous thing, much like when the Gods told Pandora to not open the box, her curiousity caused all the evil to be unleashed.

It's like putting a toy in a baby's crib and saying, "Do NOT touch this."
The more you tell them not to, the more they will want to.
