You can use AVG AntiVirus if it's a virus, I think AVG is the best and it's FREE, but if it were a spyware I'd suggest you to use either Ad-Aware from Lavasoft or Tenebril SpyCatcher.

You can check out what is AVG Free from this web: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVG_Anti-Virus

Other than that, here is something I found on Wikipedia on Ad-Aware from Lavasoft:
Ad-Aware is a program from Lavasoft that detects and removes software on a user's computer that is determined to be spyware. It also detects dialers, trojans, malware, data-mining, aggressive advertising, Parasites, Scumware, Browser hijackers, and tracking components.

There is a freeware version called Ad-Aware Personal, as well as two commercial products—Ad-Aware Plus and Ad-Aware Professional. The free download includes Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition, skins, help manuals, RegHance and the latest definition file. The freeware version of Ad-Aware is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003. Since January 6, 2006, Ad-Aware SE Personal is a part of the Google Pack.

Since 1.06 came on Download.com it has had over 189 million downloads as of March 28 2006. Version 1.06 was added May 27, 2005.

Norman ASA, together with Lavasoft, offers the Ad-Aware Plus and Ad-Aware Professional versions. The main difference between the freeware and the Plus and Professional versions is the addition of real-time scanning. Real-time scanning means that users are protected when surfing and do not have to start the scanning of spyware manually, as in the freeware version.

Don't bother with Norton, it is rubbish. Only time I got a virus on my PC, Norton wanted $70 to remove it, even though I have fully paid up versions of both Systemworks AND Internet security. The robbing dogs said that NAV "does not do all viruses, only some".
AVG Free is far better. (You may need to run it in "Safe mode" by pressing F8 when you boot the machine). If that does not get it, then you need to check out a few geeks and hacker websites (don't worry, Hackers are the good guys, crackers are the bad guys).

is a great site, and you will find help there.
As well as AVG Free, it is worth downloading zonealarm which will give you additional protection in the future
Good luck

atmckl spyware can be safely removed with spybot avalible from http://www.safer-networking.org/,this will remove and also imunize your p.c from any future attacks
it might be worth getting ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/,for added protection
it is documented that you should only have one anti-spyware program running at once, but this is not true, however it does apply to anti-virus
good luck
