Dont go to the hospital yet! Some women lose their plug and still dont have the baby for 2 weeks! Back pain can be the start of labor and of course if your water breaks...wait for contractions and when you start to get them, walk around and take a bath, if they are still regular, go to the hospital when they are about 2-4 minutes apart. Good luck!
PS Labor isnt as bad as people make it out to be!

If your lower back is hurting and you're feeling pressure you should probably go on into the hospital and let them check you and put you on a monitor. You might be in labor (everyone's experience is different but it sounds like that is a possibility).

There is no set time from plug to birth, and the water might not break until delivery.

Call your doctor immediately and let him or her make an informed decision.

You can walk around having lost your mucus plug for weeks. So based on that info alone... no one knows how soon!

BUT the back pain and pressure can be a sure sign of labor! Ask yourself if it comes in waves or can be timed. Some women never really feel their contractions in their stomachs... especially back labor (trust I have been there!) so time them! If it is frequent it wouldn't hurt to go to L&D and get checked out!

As for your water... it can break anytime or have to be broken for you! Mine has had to be broken for me. I know women who were fully dialated and ready to push but their water hadn't broken so the docs had to do it for them!

Good luck and congrats!

That is how my labor started. Once I started having the back pain, I was in labor within 12 hours. I lost my plug on Wednesday and had my daughter on Monday. But, it differs from person to person. Hope that helps. Congratulations!!

Go get checked or at least call your doctor. Once the plug is gone, the baby isn't as protected anymore and you could go into labor very soon. Congratulations!

PS - lamaze told me if it was only stomach pain, it wasn't real labor - bull!!! - I had very little to no back pain, but lots of pain in front because of the way she was laying.

You can wait for your water to break, because it sounds like it's just about to break. Might be as soon as a few hours from now! It's very painful when they break your water for you so if you can help it, keep walking around and help your water break.

I would say soon.. my son came almost a week after i lost mine. Just be sure you keep track of contractions, if u are getting any, also contact your doctor to see what he says. Dont freak out or anything, keep calm...that baby will come when he is ready.....Congrats, good luck

What color was it? It could have just been mucus and not a plug. But if it was your plug it could be a matter of hours or a matter of days.

You could be in labor now! Back pain can be labor. You might want to call the doctor...

You really don't have all that much time left. I would recommend a trip to the hospital maternity wing ASAP.
