Kylie Minogue has cancer? Sorry, I've been hiding under a rock for the past couple of lifetimes.
The media has this bad habit of making celebrities out to be super-human and infallible. However, the god-honest truth is that they aren't necessarily any more special than you or me. So when one of the "elite" human beings on the planet goes ill, it's seen as a tragedy on par with a hurricane or plague. It's sad, I know.
But as a counter-point I have to admit that the media has been swinging a little more liberal in recent years and is starting to show us the "average joe" sort of perspective of all kinds of short-comings. As dimwitted as some of these reality shows can be, they still can offer something in the way that they really are using actual people as their subjects instead of glorified demi-gods and goddesses.
I guess it all depends on what channel you're watching.

I dont think its been over dramatised at all. People on the uk and australia LOVE Kylie Minogue! As she has been part of the public eye for 20 years Its lalmost ike someone they know has got the disease. And you cannot deny the positives that have come from Kylies ilness. So many more donations have been made that will help other cancer sufferers.

I didn't see what you are talking about on TV, but one thing I do know is I don't like how you are judging this situation. You say "a lot of people have it even worse", so, what's your point here? You have no right to devalue what she is going through, you aren't in her shoes. Just because she survived doesn't mean it was easy, survivors of cancer, no matter what it is, have gone through a great deal. I know, my mom had cancer and she's survivor.

Well, I suppose that others have had it worse, but you need to remember that when bad happens to us personally, that is as bad as it gets (or so it seems to us). Also, surviving any kind of cancer is a reason to cheer. The only reason it was highlighted is because she is famous and maybe she can use her fame for good in this instance, like cancer awareness and charity benifits and the like.

While the abundance of news coverage has helped raise awareness of cancer, reports on the disease’s most sensational aspects have obscured in some way or unknown. Whether we as the audience will ever know is debatable.

hi, i'm fairly sorry about what your mum went by using, it ought to were awful for both one among you, I understand the position you're coming from, even as a loved one is ill you want the merely excellent therapy available and may do some thing to get it for them and to make certain someone well known getting the merely excellent in basic terms because they have money is a few thing that no one ought to ought to take care of. i imagine the idea of OBE's is a competent on in the journey that they advantages "the usual public" too.i do not comprehend precisely what kylie did for charity yet when it help's only one human being to get extra acceptable or be able to have extra acceptable therapy that is properly worth it. possibly by using giving OBE's to well known faces some reliable does take position, it ought to fairly provide publicity to the charities they help which do choose alot of help. a buddy had a premature toddler and it changed into cared for on the community wellbeing facility and did pull by using yet she changed into disgusted even as she got here upon out the NHS does not pay for the instruments so she did different charity events to augment money for different children, she raised a competent quantity yet merely imagine what she ought to boost with a star by using her area. If Kylie did get the award in basic terms for surviving maximum cancers then it quite is incorrect and certain I trust you it gained't take position yet i imagine that there ought to were extra to it that that. Why not imagine about contacting your community wellbeing facility and searching a thanks to augment money for others with maximum cancers so that they don't ought to percentage a communal taxi, contain community businesses and so on or see in case you may set up a volounteer team to assist with ironing, determining to purchase and so on. With selection you may replace issues, you've got here upon the difficulty and it of route annoys you so bypass variety it out the merely excellent you may. Take care Louise
