It sounds like there's something going on, but I think you should take comfort in the fact that your son is crawling and physically normal at least for a 6-9-month old. He may be developing slowly, but at least he's developing. If something does turn out to be "wrong", it sounds like it might be something minor...but I can only guess about this since I'm not a medical professional. I hear SO many parents say that their children are behind in one way or another (because that's just the way life is, every child can't be at or above the standard), whether it's walking, talking, whatever. I know you're worried, there's nothing more painful than worrying about your child, and you're probably going insane having to wait for a diagnosis -- but I would just pray a lot and trust the doctors to point you in the right direction. It doesn't sound like your son has a life-threatening condition if he's physically normal other than developmental delays..and that's a blessing in and of itself. With a loving mother he's going to be just fine.

Don't worry he might just have some delays but normal out. The doctors might not know what he has, it sounds like he could have any number of things, and they just need time to sort out what could or could not be wrong with your son. Just be patient and work with the doctors and therapists. When they know they will be able to give you a diagnosis. I was a small baby and people thought my mom wasn't feeding me enough, that I would be in danger for all these disabilities and such. Sometimes you're just a small baby. That might be what's going on with your son. Ask your mom and the father's mother if there is some history of small babies in the family. They can help ease your mind.

I have a 14 1/2 month old daugther that had spinal meningitis twice, once whrn she was born, and then again at 2 1/2 months she also has pt, and ot pt once a week and ot three times a week. She started out very much behind then she started doing good she is now walking by herself and she has improved her speech alot. The last time she went to the doctor they couldn't believe how well she was doing i'm not sure what could be wrong with your son but i would like to tell you that he will improve just keep working with him and try to think positive.

My son was like this, except for small head circ...his was off the scale large...another worry. I had my son tested for heavy metals poisoning b/c it got much worse overnight after getting shots. Your doctor will say you don't need to, but don't listen...if I had listened to our pediatrician my son would still be acting like a zombie. She believed me after the tests came back positive, though! I would recommend blood and hair testing. My son had aluminum poisoning, and I found an easy cure for it...zinc supplements in a chewable children's vitamin. He is much better now, released from all therapy. Like a normal kid. Also you might see a DAN! doctor (check Defeat Autism Now! website) if you get that diagnosis...you will not regret it...this is the doctor that treated my son with zinc and helped my daughter who has some mild autism traits as well...they changed our lives.

I'm sure with time that he will be fine. If they can't diagnose yet, then the odds are very high that he will get to an age appropriate level. Good luck:) and remember, all babies are different.

Be calm, always remember that all children are unique. Don't feel bad when you hear other parents talk about their kids of what they can do and stuff, they will just make you think differently about your son. Don't let those things get to you. I recommend for you to sign up for parent pages:www.pampers.com

He probably has a develpmental delay, but since he is so young he won't be diagnosed. He won't be diagnosed until he is probably about school age.
