I read that it closed in in 2001. I have lived in St. Louis all my life and it feels like I haven't seen it in at least 10 years...

It was a really long time ago. At least 5 years ago...The last time I remember it actually being there was right before or after the Flood of 93. I am unsure if that had anything to do with it.
The last date I can find online is 1998 (I googled floating McDonalds since it was the only one in the US)

Approximately sometime 2001. The cannot re-coup the cost. Not too much activity in STL after 9/11.

It has been years since the McDonalds closed. the whole riverfront area is gone, compared to what it once was. such a shame used to be things to do right there below the arch. now nothing.
