A boy with the ability to see how people are going to die by shaking their hands is being chased by a group of religious fanatics who thinks this boy is the key to resurrecting the Anti-Christ. The only person who can help him is the detective assigned to protect him. This is all well and good except the detective is the only person the boy can't seem to predict the death of.
What do you think?

He can predict the event of a person's death exactly as its going to happen, however there are often little or no clues to when that person dies, however ever once in a while he can see warning signs that could give a major clue. The fact he can't predict the detective's death is intergral to the plot, but obviously if say why it'll give away the plot. He can predict his own death and he can influence the out come of a person's life depending of course if he picks up on the signs in time. The cult need him to help find the particular vessel (human sacrifice) needed to play host to the arrival of the anti-christ (the idea being by touching the potential victim, he will know who is the right person to sacrifice.) And no before you jump to conclusions its not the detective.

No need to worry, this is not my A grade material, if anything its my E grade. I was bored and thought I'd kill sometime. I'm keeping my A stuff close to my chest, everything else is open to all :).
Then again I wasn't aware this was like the dead zone, I am aware of it but never really watched it.

I think it has the possibility of being a really good story as long as the boy does not come across as either too drippy or to cocky - there's nothing more irratating than annoying kids. Is there a special reason why the boy cannot predict the detective's death - is there something special about the detective. Can the boy see his own death. Can he change the course of peoples lives. ie/ once he has seen how somebody will die can he alter their fate. Does he only see how they die or dies he see when. Great general idea, but needs a lot of questions answered which would alter the whole course of the story

It does sound a bit like The Dead Zone, but it has potential. I'd throw in a couple more twists in there...like, instead of the boy not being able to see how the detective is going to die, make it that the boy DOES see how the detective is going to die but he can't say anything or it'll mess up the future...etc...that kind of thing, you know? I say start writing and see where you end up!

It's not my bag, but I recommend you don't stick whole plots on the internet because they'll be nicked. If you want to write it just write it, don't worry about what anyone else thinks. It's your stuff man, just do it.
If you're worried about other people's opinions you will never be any kind of writer.
just GET ON WITH IT!

sure. the plot's fine, but it isn't the plot that counts though, (they've all been covered at one time or another), it's the way you write that matters. develop a style that keeps people interested and you can turn the simplest stories into fantastic ones.
go for it.

Kind of sounds like The Dead Zone.
An interesting idea. Perhaps you might want to think of a screenplay.

It looks like you have the plot nailed down pretty well.
Above all else, enjoy what you're writing and don't be overly critical when you read it back to yourself.
Good luck

any idea is a good idea, if you write well. Look around at the wide range of stories you see in books and movies, some epic some silly but what makes them good or bad is not what you write about but how you write about it. so if you get an idea , any idea just go with it.

if u make the plot a bit shorter then i think that the story will be very cool one that i personally would definitely enjoy.
the good thing about itis that it is filled with such detail it is like u just told us the plan for the story.
and i think it's very good.
GO FOR IT!!!

Sounds like a cheesy ABC nighttime movie. If you can milk that for all it's worth and can actually write pretty good, it has potential.
