I get hit upon by the bums down town so often that now when they ask me if I have any change, I will pull out some coins, look at them and say: Why yes, yes I do, thank you for your concern, and walk away! Boy, they get so pissed! ha ha ha ha!!!!!! I use to give them some change till I saw them going into bars with the money, not thanking me and getting pushy! Also I discovered they will peg you as a sucker if you give them something and look for you and hit you up every time they see you! So now I don't give a damn about them at all! Why do they need money anyway? All of their needs are met ! They get all free meals, free clothes, free medical, and if they need money so bad, there are a lot of bottles and cans they can collect! I'm tired of giving them MY hard earned money, and I have to work my a** off for minimum wage! And I don't get anything for free! Do I feel sorry for them? Hell no! Not when I see them get their drugs in ally ways and take the change good hearted people give them into the bars to get drunk! Also most of the ones I've run into were mean and mentally ill! Who needs them!

One time I was working on a movie and it was my job, on this particular night, to drive some of the members of the crew to a location in lower Manhattan to spec out the space and find out what equipment they would need to bring on the day of the shoot.

I sat in the van while they went inside and listened to the Knicks game on the radio. Soon I saw a little old chinese lady up the street selling plastic roses that took a AA battery and lit up. I jumped out and bought one for my girlfriend. As I got back to the van there was a homeless guy standing near the driver's door, waiting for me. "Give me a dollar," he said.

"No," I replied.

"Give me a dollar. I know you got one. That lady gave you change. I saw it."

"No, man, forget about it," I responded, starting to get tired of this exchange.

"C'mon, man, give me a dollar." As he said this a big chunk of spit flew out of his mouth...and landed...in my mouth.

Horrified, I started licking my sleeve, trying to cleanse myself of whatever I had just picked up. "You fthink I gonna gib you a dollar now?" I said, still furiously licking my sleeve. He walked away.

That's one of my worse encounters with Mr. Do You Have a Dollar.
