Truthfully you should try NOT to take it while you're pregnant. Even though melatonin is a natural substance which our adult bodies produce, (sometimes in lesser quantities) whenever we injest anything that we are short of, the fetus will take it into their bloodstread as well. (Your blood is their blood) Example, if you like broccoli, the baby gets that same nourishment. Take an asprin to thin your blood, you also thin the baby's blood. It would be better to stay away from it for now because you may change the baby's sleep habits.

When I was pregnant with my son, I lived with my mom for a while. She was put on melatonin during that time. Her doctor made it a point for her to let me know NOT to take it. I would suggest you not take it until you have spoken with your OB.

As a formally pregnant woman with insomnia I would say it was safe for me. It is a naturally produced chemical/hormone in your body. That does not mean to take tons of it. But if it doesn't work take it as the universe telling you to read more and spend more time exercising.......both lead to a better nites sleep....Oh and the walking will make labor alot less difficult. Good luck.

If you are pregnant, the odds are you are under 40 years of age. Nobody needs melatonin who is younger than 40. It is strictly for older people whose on natural production of melatonin has dropped with age. Young people have very adequate amounts naturally. So if you have been taking it, you are wasting your money.
But to answer your question directly, you need to check with your doctor on ANYTHING you take during pregnancy...and I mean ANYTHING.

You should not take anything that is not prescribed by your dr. during pregnancy including alternative medicines. Alternative medicines ARE medicines.
