If you don't want to get deployed or fight a war, then don't sign up. This is the deal. The Air Force Reserve will give you money for college and training. In return you drill one weekend a month, two weeks in the summer, and will be on call to deploy if your unit is needed. The reserves are no joke. There are many on active duty in Iraq right now.

Don't do it unless you're willing to sign yourself over to the military. If your unit gets deployed, you're going whether you want to or not. You will not have a choice. I think joining the military to pay for school is joining for the wrong reasons. It doesn't look like this war will over anytime soon, so there's a very good chance that you would be sent over there somewhere.

well i'm in the army reserves and they only reason i joined is for the college money too. i was also scared of being deployed but i really don't mind seeing the world and doing something good at the same time. it isn't a easy decision so think about it and good luck

Don't join if you're not willing to kill or be killed on the say-so of some politician. In short -- don't do it. Find another way to finance your education.

Only if you have no other options. Look a little harder first -- if there is a will, there is a way.
