I am not racist at all, so please NO ONE take offence to this. Anytime a person of color doesnt get their way, why do they say its because "Im black" etc. when it has nothing to do with it? It seems like in the end it boils down to what color my skin is. Is this an excuse people of color accept automatically?

Sometimes people cry wolf too much, but race matters more than you think.

I do take offense. I am black and I will not call someone a racist unless there is no other explanation for the way i'm being treated.
The truth is that "people of color" are often discriminated against, and treated differently. When this type of situation occurs, the individual has the choice of looking to him/her self to see if they have a shortcoming that caused the seemingly unfair situation, or they can claim to have been victimized by racism.
While I might admit that some play the racism card too often, I feel that your contention that "this is an excuse people of color accept automatically" is erroneous stereotyping, and belittles the fact that racism DOES EXIST. I would also question your qualifications to judge what is racist or not.
Just for the record....In my experience when someone tells you they aren't racist it usually means that they are, and when they ask you not to take offense, it's because they are about to say something offensive.
The bottom line is that I have the maturity to accept that sometimes things don't go my way and it's my own fault, or just bad luck.

I am white and I have tried to use that a time or two just for kicks, you ought to see peoples faces. I have not been overly mistreated by any race nor do I plan on mistreating anyone myself. But the world has made people feel mistreated because of color or race. We were all born equal, we can sit around all day feeling sorry for ourselves because maybe we were born uglier than someone or our skin is pale or maybe too dark. Those who say they are mistreated need to look and see who they may mistreat, noone is perfect. We all miss the mark of perfection.
Black people are not the only ones to use that phrase. Girls use it sometimes to get their ways like if their brother gets to do something they dont. I work hard for my money and work where I live around mostly Mexican people, once I applied for foodstamps and I really needed them which led me to ask my caseworker if I was denied because I was not hispanic. So its just a matter of feeling wronged and good lord blacks were at one time wronged but most of them are old or dead and we cant keep looking back for there is so much to look forward too.

Well no offense, but many times, it's not paranoia on the part of a person of color. There is a ton of White racism out there, a lot of it so subtle but powerful that many people don't even realize it.

I agree that any individual who has shortcomings unrelated to race/racism shouldn't blame it on such, but a lot of times, what happens to Black people IS related in some way, shape, or form to race and racism. Me and my family are only part-Black and we've been discriminated against for it.

So yeah, things do tend to boil down to race, but many times that's the underlying factor.

I believe it used to be justified. But now it is used to get your way. Everyone is afraid of a racial law suit so they let them have there way. I'm sure there are still some who are abused, but I believe the majority now is miss used. People I work with, when in trouble and fear of getting fired will tell management " If I were white you would let it go". Not so, being white has not given me any more than the next race. I get no privileges or favors. And that's the way I like it. I earn my way.

It don't matter what color you are , all that matters is how much money you got . There is certain standards for rich and poor .Look at O.J. got away with murder he's black, now a poor colored man do the same he will die in the gas chamber .

it is sad that it comes down to colour or race, even nationalities sometimes. it may be a comfort level or a personal past or just how the media has handled a certain situation. all i know is that we need more tolerance less racial finger pointing for our woes. i know i am stereotyped, i accept it but i work to be nice to others and be patient with their views.

Some people may use that as an excuse because it is usually an excepted one. The people who don't use that as an excuse usually are the ones who do good in their life.

think about this...they have all the programs for blacks/indians/hispanics/etc to go to college ie: naacp, national ***** college fund, etc. but if someone tried to create the national association for the advancement of white people, we'd have a friggen civil war or something.. makes alot of sense to me.

but hey, lives always fair

Racism works both ways, the trouble began when we encountered each others continents.
Think how much more trouble we are to have if we are to encounter with other creature from different worlds!
