It's admirable that you'd propose a question just to later enlighten the uninformed public of the true answer, but that would violate several concepts that make this site so endearing.
One, the point system. It costs 5 points to post a question and you can receive 10 points for a Best Answer. Simple subtraction tells us that you'd still be gaining 5 unfair points. But let's assume the honor system DOES work and you wouldn't be in it for the points.
There's nothing gained by someone simply telling you an answer to some obscure question. You could easily google whatever question you want and probably get just as good of an answer, but where's the fun and socialization in that?
Simply put, it won't let you answer because they assume you don't know the answer. Which, all things considered, is a fair assumption for a site dedicated to the asking, answering, and discovering of new and interesting questions.

Because once your question goes onto Yahoo Answers,but you come up with an answer.You're responsible for putting in the question in the first place cause you should have found out the question a short time ago.

This is the best question I fond on Yahoo sofar, you should have a chance to answer your own question, several times even.
Even if it is merely to reply to what some other people wrote as an answer.
Who are we bullsh*tting here anyway, most people who place a question already have their own opinion on the matter anyway.

Why would you want to answer your own question? I've never heard of anything more pointless in my life! If you know the answer don't ask the question or if it's bothering you that badly SAY IT IN YOUR HEAD.

it is made so for a single purpose: To discourage stupid questions. For example, you ask a stupid question or a question only you know the answer, then after 24hrs, you asnwer your own and get 10 pts for yourself. It is unfair and cheating.

because you can't get two points back for losing the five points you gave up to ask it. Oh, and the questions are sort of ment to be questions that you need an answer to.
