The first 'terrorists' are those who state things without knowing facts. I suggest you to read palestine and israel's history, before blaming on people and states. Truth is only one, whatever idea or opinion you come from.
Nasty answers here above. Sad but true.

Israel is defending itself.
The state of Israel was legally created out of the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I. The area was desolate, desert and swamp, with some small towns and a few inhabitants, many of them nomads. The inhabitants considered themselves mostly Syrian. The Balfour Declaration issued by the British, who were given the mandate over the area by the League of Nations. Jews have lived in the country since Biblical times. The Arabs from the surrounding areas were lured to "Palestine" by the industry and prosperity that the Jews brought to the region. Envy, hatred and religious fanaticism turned the Arabs against the Jews. In 1947, under pressure, the British resigned their mandate. The same year, the United Nations mandated partioning of the territory. The Jews, though disappointed, accepted the partition. The Arabs rejected it and launched war against Israel. The armies of five Arab countries invaded. Following the exhortations of the invaders, the Arab residents got out of the way hoping to return after victory was attained. They could then reclaim their property and that of the Jews, all of whom would have been killed or would have fled. Israel won. That and that alone is the source of the Palastinian "refugees". Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would now have been a state of "Palestine" for the last 58 years. The might have attained a similar level of prosperity, advancement and development as Israel. 50% of Israel's population now includes refugees from Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Yemen. All were accepted by Israel with open arms and have become successful members of their society. The Palestinians refused to integrate these refugees into their population and instead confined them to "refugee camps". The ones there are now fourth generation and through no fault of Israel.
Hey, here's an idea, why don't the Arabs get these 4th generation refugees and incorporate them into their society? 4th GENERATION?!? That would never happen in a developed nation, including Israel. It shows how incompetant the Palestinians are.

A good part of the world understands about Israeli aggression, but here in the US, it is considered anti-Semitic to say anything negative about Israel. The weird thing is that the real Semites are the Arabs and only a small portion of the Jews in Israel, The majority of Jews there are children of people who migrated from Europe into Palestine starting at the beginning of the 20th Century as well as those who have come more recently from countries such as Russia.
So, you can see how screwed up our thinking is in this country. We actually do not get factual news reports about current events between Israel and Palestine. Then we are constantly reminded about the horrors that occurred in Germany. I think they use this history as a red herring to keep people's minds off what is happening as we speak.

Islam is a religion, it is therefore NOT classified as being terrorist. Radical Islamic groups such as Hamas or AlQaeda are classified as being terrorist because of the tactics they employ. Terrorism is typically viewed as any type of threat placed against civilians. When a government, such as Israel or Palestine targets civilians then they are performing terrorist acts, such as what happen on 911 here in the U.S. but when a government targets only those individuals who are seen by that government as military combatants, then they are not, generally speaking, committing terrorism. Each action should and must be viewed on a case by case basis. We are asking questions about two distinct cultures who have been at war with each other for hundreds of years...the world, sadly enough, must take sides and the U.S. (like the EU) has chosen to side with Israel, right or wrong that is the reality. Therefore it is silly to think that the actions performed by Israel will be looked at equally with those of Palestine.

God gave this land and more to Israel. Yes, they screwed up big time but God never broke a covenant and He gave it back to them with a little help from the British in 1948. Israel is willing to settle for much less than they deserve in order to have peace. If Islam would categorically recognize Israel, then you could have peace.
Look at what just happened in Gaza. Israel offered to give it back as a first peace offering. Instead of thanking Israel and offering a reciprocal peaceful move, Palestine elects a government (Hamas) that refuses to recognize the existence of Israel. On top of that, you clamor for Israel to give back land it got when the Arab states started a war in 1967!
Well, Israel wants peace and they are going to give parts of it back. Personally, I think they are nuts especially if they believe in their foundation through God's covenants with Abraham, Moses and David.
You want peace and you wonder why Israel is tearing the place apart? Try this: give the soldier back NOW! Israel will stop.
God will continue to protect Israel against overwhelming odds. In doing so, I pray that this will convert many non-believers to the truth of God's word on both sides.

Hmmmph... I have never been one to differentiate between the way a bomb is delivered, but here goes...
The difference is, if Isreal stopped getting suicide attacked, and shelled, it would stop the military operations. It already did at one point, and was suicide bombed some more.
The Israeli army is trying to target the people doing the attacking, the suicide bombers, the bomb factories, the launch sites for the missles.
The suicide bombers are targeting shopping malls, restaurants, and discos.
Are you starting to see the difference here?
Oh, and Islam is not being labeled as terrorist, a radical wing of it is. In the Palistine/Israel debate, those lines get a bit more blurred. In other bombings iin other countries, the line is pretty clear cut.

In my belief, every day every person performs an act of terrorisim is one way or the other. Simply to instill terror in someone or use fear or cruelty as a weapon. Israel does it too. They are not called on it for the following reasons:
-they feel "an eye for an eye"
-they have a country and government and more military powere
-THEY ARE BACKED BY THE WORLD'S LARGEST SUPERPOWER - USA!
So they have connections I believe all the violence is wrong and terrible for both sides. But the infitada is still strong and maybe one day we will see a free Palenstine.
With Israeli's put to shame - they brought it upon themselves. Bt no one is right in this siuation. Not a single soul.

It is the country of Israel defending their citizens which is in the charter for a nation. this is fundamental right for citizens to depend on their nation to protect them. On the other hand the Islamic factions do not represent a country (officially recognized as government representatives able to affect change and control their militaries and legally protect the citizens) so there are major differences in what a terrorist faction is and a duly represented government... Hope that helps

Israel is a State, Islam is a belief. And some who call themselves Islamics started it and have to expect Israel to defend themselves. Terrorists cause terror as their purpose,Israel just protects itself as my country would. Any terror caused because of defending goes straight on the attackers. Read up

As a soldier in the US Army, I would agree with engel's answer. Israel is a nation being attacked by individuals. I would go further, though. There is Islamic terrorism in Russia, in China, in the US, on every continent on Earth. Lets quit pretending Islam is a religion. It is a new-fangled fascism, and a cancer in the body of humanity.
