I'm in my forties & I've watched As The World Turns my entire life. The scenes between Hal & Jennifer yesterday, Thursday 7/6, were just heart breaking to watch knowing that Mr. Hendrickson had committed suicide.

I have always loved the Hal character & agree with Miss Kitty's post about when they re-cast him with Randolph Mantooth. He's a fine actor, I'm sure, but he just wasn't Hal!

He will be missed by many...family, fans & fellow actors alike.

I just found out the news about our beloved Hal (Benjamin Hendricks) tonight. It is so sad. I can't imagine them recasting the role of Hal. No one else could fill his shoes. He brought such soul to the character. I know he's at peace now. I have heard his leave of absence in '03 was to take care of his dying mother and supposedly since her death he had been battling depression. God bless Ben and his family.

I'm a VERY proud ATWT fan. I was brought up on the show and it's like a legacy in my family lol. My Great Grandma watched it, my Grandma still does and can remember the first episodes, my Mom grew up watching it, and as long as I can remember ATWT has been in my living room. I'm 20 now and still love it. I feel like in a way the people of Oakdale are a part of my family. Anyway they've given viewers 50 great years and I hope 50+ more will come. . . I know I'll still be watching when I'm an old lady :)

Wow! No, I had not heard that. I will have to search for info on that one. I haven't watched it religiously in a while. My job doesn't give me enough time to even watch it if I record it. But I know the characters you are talking about. The show will not be the same without HAL. They tried a different Hal for a while. It didn't work. I was glad when they brought the other one back. Hopefully it hasn't been too long since I watched it that we are now talking about a different Hal than the one I am used to. Cool to see a fellow fan though. If you hear more. Let us know.
