Should the man have to pay for child support if the couple took all possible measures not to get pregnant. They used condoms, birth control and other methods, yet she still got pregnant. The discussed pregnancy earlier and in the even that she got pregnant they BOTH agreed that she would have an abortion. But after she gets pregnant she decides to keep the baby. Should the man have to pay child support?

I am not the man in this question. There is no way in hell that I would be caught in this mess. I just thought that the man should have an equal say when dealing with a person who is will be responsible for.

my answer won't be popular... but here it goes... if a man doesn't want a child and votes for abortion i don't think he should have to pay for the child. i also think he should have no rights to the child. it is unfair that a woman gets to choose and that the man has no choice, or say in the matter. BUT, you will end up paying because the system is going to make you... even if a lot of people think it's unfair! and... i just wanted to add, it's always possible she got pregnant on purpose... i just don't think it's possible for SEVERAL birthcontrol methods to all fail at once!
(i'm a woman for the record)

If you were not prepared to pay child support in the event that these things happened, you should not have been doing the deed!!!

No birth control is 100% effective. And no woman who has never been pregnant can fully understand what it is like to know there is a little person growing inside you and you have to decide if it lives or dies.

You were messing around like a man, now be a man and take responsibility for the child you were 50% responsible for creating.

Hi I am not against men, I have a deadbeat sperm donor that did want the baby and don't help! I think it is up to you two to decide, but just think it is not the baby's fault that she got pregnant, if you were taking all precautions to prevent the pregnancy than obviously she wasn't. Don't ever trust someone with something like that. Because there probably was a time that you yourself wasn't protected if she got pregnant, so yes I think it is probably only right if the male pays. OR in some states you can legally sign over all rights to your child and won't have to be responsible for it. But you one day will have to look that child in the eyes and tell them why.Could you say the same about your father???

If you want to dance you have to pay the fiddler. With great pleasure comes great responsibility. No method is 100% guaranteed. If you do not wish to be the dad in the traditional sense then yes you must pay child support. There is always adoption though if you both agree it's OK. The las question I answered was kind of like "How do you tell your child you don't love him/her?" go figure eh? If your lady friend takes it to court you'll have to pay child support as well as jail time fees.

I think that all you have to do to avoid paying child support is sign a paper saying that you give up all future rights to the child, including visitation, ect. Effectively you agree not to be the child's father. I believe that a mother has the same "right" to do that too, if the reverse senario would happen. The process is similar to when you give the child up for adoption, except instead of both parents signing their rights away, only one does. Call your local Children and Youth agency (look up in the blue pages) and find out.

If you don't sign the birth certificate then you have given up all rights of that child for the rest of there life. Then you have no legal binding to the child and when they are older and come looking for you you need to be prepared to explain to they why you didn't want any part of their life.

You should pay child support if your not willing to give up the rights to that child. Otherwise you need to seek advise and make sure you don't have to be put on the birth certificate.

heck yes, of course only if a dna test proves its his. A woman can do whatever she wants with her child, the hell with abortion, there is such a thing as ADOPTION, couples who cannot have children will gladly accept a baby.
The woman can also tell the child support office that she doesnt want the child support, I've never taken a dime from my sons dad, especially if she doesnt need his support, just him being there taking care of his child is plenty support.

that has nothing to do with child support, if it's his child he is obligated to share the burden of raising that child. if you really wanted to prevent pregnancy, you would have gotten a vasectomy, it isn't always her responsibility to see that she doesn't get pregnant, you took a ride on the fun mobile and now that it has blown a tire , you don't want to pay for the ride. don't waste your time trying to convince the courts of an agreement, they don't care about he said/ she said. there is a child, it is yours, ante up .

Morally or legally? Because legally, it's the woman's choice, regardless of his feelings about it. If they used all kinds of birth control and STILL got pregnant, maybe it's time for this guy to think about what his life is trying to tell him.

Yes because even though they took precautions the bottom line is that they decided to have sex. Pregnancy is always a possibility and they should have been aware of that.
