My parents used to talk about the Blizzard of '78, until the blizzard of '93 came along. The entire eastern seaboard, from Georgia to Maine got snow. My hometown in upstate New York bore the brunt of the storm, receiving well over five feet in twenty-four hours. You could not drive in the city, even after the streets were plowed, because you could not see around corner. The snowbanks were too high. Of course, that snow led to the Great Flood of '93 as well, LOL.

The winter of 77-78 blizzard was pretty bad. Here in Indiana we were stranded for 2 weeks. Snowmobiles were getting stuck. Drifts were over the tops of houses. We had a drift on our road that was at least 10 feet tall and stretched for at least a quarter mile. It's the worst blizzard that I have lived throuh.

~New England '78 was just a puppy. Check out South Dakota, particularly in the 1880's. Define severe. More people, more inconvenience but not necessarily more wind or snow. The folks in Buffalo think '77 was a big deal. I was there. It wasn't.
