You just get older and realize that there's really nothing to fear.

I think it's a combination of things, but the biggest factor is money. All movie producers, Companies etc etc... want to make it. Unfortunately the target audience in America is the 12-15 bracket. Which all scary movies must be pg-13 or under. Not to say you can't make a scary movie with a Pg-13 rating, but when you are trying to put out a movie a month you aren't putting much effort into an individual film. So you end up getting steak instead of Fillet Mignon. This problem effects all genre of movies not just the horror Genre. I think people also fail to realize that for every "Alien" there's a million "Jason X: Jason in Space" you have to sit through.

I think either the movies are just getting stupider or we are just getting older. I mean because if you look at some of the scary movies that just came out they aren't scary at all like "When a Stranger Calls" That wasn't scary i found it stupid, the lion king was scarier, but movies like Saw and Saw II they were kinda scary because all the nasty parts and stuff. Some times the classics are scarier than the new movies these directors come up with.

No more Idea's so they have no choice but to do remakes and sequels. So for people out their who are so excited to see a remake to a horror movie you guys are not true fans of horror movies. People just don't understand that you can't make something even more scarier than what has already been shown. We've seen it, we know whats gonna happen so why in the hell would we feel that the remake will be anything better. It's all about glitz and glamorous technology. It's all about directors thinking that if they add this interesting idea and make their own personal touches to it than they can make something more genuine when the truth is it's the same story and nothing new.

Back in the 60' 70's when they made good scary movies like "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist" they had movies that were based on books and the directors had a certain style ALL THEIR own-be it Scorsese, Speilberg, Coppola etc now wth todays horror which should be re-named to Ghorror its all about the blood because even though there are a few that attempt to scare us still-Blair Witch and Emily Rose the yournger kids(who fill the seats at the theatre)are bored they want the blood and violence and the studios keep giving them what they want the SAWS and the HOSTELS, and next the BARBEQUE??

Because almost every scary idea has been done over and over and over again.
It takes the following to make a scary movie these days:
1) Unknown actors who don't look like they're acting
2) A new twist on an old fear
3) Mental Games
4) A character to become attached to
5) And a whole lot of suspense
Most movie directors don't even try.

I think were just so used to the sight of blood that the true scary flicks like the omen, rosemary's baby, the original Halloween. Just aren't made anymore. (not counting the omen remake oh did i say remake?)Movies that built up suspense and didn't have to use gallons of blood to create horror. Modern movies in my opinion are funny the downfall started in 1985.

scary movies are for the young, but if you want, you can still watch the twilight zone, good for any age and you can laugh at what they thought was scary n the 50's and 60's :P

i don't think that is because we get older ...
i think that is because ,,, the new movies aren't like the old ones ... the people that makes the movies seems not to have twisted mind anymore .. is like they lost the feeling of making good horror and gore movies ... but well i think that directors like rob zombie are doing a good job ... he have a twisted ming and his movies are pretty good we need more guys like him to make some new awsome movies ...
