the board is extraordinarily efficacious. it prompts thinking, creativity, writing skills practice, language usage, human interaction, tolerance to another's point of view, introducing many to info that's totally new, and helpful, assuages loneliness, might get you a date,exchange of ideas and cultural values, shows everyone how alike yet dissimilar we all are, etc.

Hi Zack - first let me thank you for answering my question on happiness and return the favor of an answer. Yes, there are many kids who use this for silliness and games etc.. and you may have to sort through your answers.. but I have found it at times helpful, at times thought provoking and I have made a couple of connections which I would not have made otherwise.
I have an interest in visiting Bhutan and through one question, with one response, met a Bhutanese fellow and exchanged some info.. He is smart and has some similarities in background and interest as myself - When he and his wife and mother came through Bangkok on a stopover, I was able to buy them lunch and change it to a personal relationship.. and I look forward to visiting them in Bhutan in the spring of next year.. maybe this forum is an apt metaphor for life in that it is so large that you have the ability to find what you are looking for, whatever it might be.. I have always been a people person and I currently live in a small agrarian village in central Thailand.. Through this forum I have met others too, people who will soon visit Thailand - so, it is in a sense, a modern version of a cafe or coffee house for me.. [except my thai wife does not ask me "why you talk talk everyone" as she might if I was out somewhere engaging strangers in conversation] as well as a resource for information on all sorts of issues and it provides a chance to help others with my knowledge.. well, if you would have told me 3 months ago that I would be writing this, I never would have believed it!!

Not much that ive seen. There is only a couple second window to get questions answered before new ones are on the homepage. the only reason anything gets answered is because there are a lot of people all answering in that exact moment.

Not all questions of the world must be seen and answered at once. This is a chance to see what other people have on their minds... what others feel about different situations. Are we all that different? no... because we are all here looking for answers or waiting to be heard.
