The radius is 4 inches. The diameter is the distance from one side of the circle to the other that also goes through the center. The radius is half of the diameter. Math Extras: The circumference of a circle is the "perimeter" (distance all of the way around) and can be found by diameter times pi. The area of a circle is the total space within the circle and is found by the radius squared (radius times radius) times pi.

2 x Radius = Diameter
So if the Diameter is 8",
2 x Radius = 8"
Therefore Radius = 8"/2 = 4"

4. diameter is 2 radii. Radius is half the diameter.
Extra's:
area is radius^2 times pi.
circumfrance is pi times the diameter.
pi is the weird symbol on your calculator. Off the top of my head its 3.1415926535897932384626
