All of the above sounds normal. Babies are not made to sleep through the night; many of the ones who sleep a lot in the first few weeks are actually drugged. It can take up to 2 months for the drugs of an epidural to be eliminated from a baby's body, so that may be the reason he is sleeping less now. But some babies *do* sleep a lot naturally, too, and it is *still* normal for their sleep pattern to change later on (including waking more often).
And it is also normal for a baby to try to roll over very early. If he actually managed to roll over, then it would be very early!

Don't worry too much about it. All babies have transitional phases with sleep patterns. He may just be in a developemental phase where he's more interested in his world around him and needs less sleep. It will change continously for the first 3 years. Eash time they hit a developemental or physical milestone the sleep habits change. The only you can do is be consistent. You may have to teach him to nap. I had to teach my son. He was a very active baby so I made a habit of laying down with him on my bed twice a day. Even if he didn't sleep he at least rested and wasn't being stimulated by his surroundings ( no music,no TV,one story and that was it). He eventually began to get sleepy on his own at those times during the day and a sleep pattern developed.
All kids do this at different times, so don't worry. If he's already trying to turn over be sure to always keep a close eye on him. He could easily roll off a bed, so put him on a blanket on the floor or in a bouncy chair with it buckled, or in a travel bed where he can't get hurt when you can't hold him. Even some high chairs now recline enough for you to set him in it for a moment while you answer a phone, but never ever leave him in a room alone unsecured and always have a monitor on while he's sleeping in his crib.

My kids are a little older now, so my facts aren't 100%. My daughter started out with 2 naps during the day until she was about 5 months old. These naps were 1 hour and then 2 hours. During the night, she would wake up every 2 hours for feeding. The feeding wouldn't last long and I think it was more for nurturing. I'm pretty sure both my kids could roll around in the crib at that age.
My son acted more like your son with his sleeping and feeding. At one point, he was getting up at 3 am to stay up until 7:30 or 8 am when he would fall asleep again. He would also not go to sleep until 10 pm or 10:30 pm for a while. Your situation doesn't sound too bad. Good luck!!

Most babies change there sleep patterns a few times for before they get in to a good routine. On average before the age of 1 they will more then likely change there sleeping behaviour 3 - 5 times before they get comfortable with something. After a yr till about the age of 5 they may change 1-2 times again depending on the child.
Just be patent some time it takes longer or shorter. Don't try and force a sleeping pattern it only makes the child resistant to sleep, when the baby is tired he'll sleep just relax and go with the flow it will make your a lot easier.
Yes it is very normal at this age for him to start trying to roll don't panic it is very normal and that is all he is trying to do. When he is a wake lay him on his tummy on the floor for play time and I bet you he will be rolling in no time

He...like you...is still trying to figure out his sleep pattern. It will most likely not be long until he is sleeping through that 5-6 am feeding. You might try feeding him cereal in his formula at his 1-2am feeding. If you go by the books, so say it is too early. However, my doctor told us it was ok at about 6 weeks as long as it was in small increments and not bothering his bowel movements. My youngest son first flipped himself over for the first time at about 2 1/2 months old. He also seemed to be more comfy on his side sleeping, so I bought one of the positioner thingys and it worked great. He was able to sleep on his side but I didnt have to worry about him smothering either. Enjoy him while you can....he is already getting to be a big boy!!

My baby is four months old. His sleep pattern is exactly like that. He slept a lot up until two months old. Starting then and even now he only sleeps, if i'm lucky, two hours a day until night. He also goes to sleep around 8:30 and wakes up around 1:30 for a feeding, sleeps until 5:30 for a feeding, goes back to sleep until around 8 usually. I have been putting the rice cereal in his bottle for about a month and half now. It didnt help him. In fact it hurt him at first, it caused severe constipation and it even made him more hungry. Dr.s recommend not starting cereal until four months, I wish i had of listened to my docoter. I know exactly what your going through though with the sleep pattern. Good luck with your new baby and for you and me both, I hope soon they start sleeping a little longer at night time. Good luck.

babies bodies are small and require less sleep...at least thats what i heard but it seems right and the flipping to the side i think that is just a comfortable way for him to sleep. But you could feed him a bottle or if hes already been fed then give him a pacifier and rock him to sleep and sing. Do this when you think he needs sleep.

He's hungry. I started to put rice cereal in my daughter's bottles at that age and she started to sleep through the night, you will have to cut the nipple a little bit so it can come out.I suggested this to someone else on here and it worked for her too.Let me know how things come out. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!!!!Isn't motherhood awesome?

it's natural..2 month old baby should be able to move around..don't expect your baby to be sleeping all day and night..he's growing..i understand a one month old sleeping all day/night..but you should be proud that your baby is active..why don't you play with your baby while he's awake..i'd be worry if my baby just sleeps..
