For the record, not all conservatives are unthinking swine as you paint us to be. There are those of us - more than you'd think - that do not rubber stamp everything someone says or does just because he/she says they are conservatives.

Don't forget, there are a LOT of "liberals" that rubber stamp everything a so called "liberal" says or does. Hillary moved to what is likely the only state in the nation where she could get elected to the senate due to the political party factor.

All my life I've said the only people that vote straight ticket are fools. No single political party has a monopoly on the best candidate for every office.

As far as what is currently going on, I feel it was a mistake to start the war, but we would be sorely remiss to leave there without having something better to substitute in Saddam's place.

Both current political parties are getting more and more difficult to discern, except for the constant posturing and bickering. The only thing that ever gets done anymore is blaming the other party for shortfallings. And the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Always.

And it doesn't matter which party takes the blame anymore.

Um...yeah, as though it doesn't work both ways. Like any of these anti-war protestors wouldn't have praised Clinton up and down if HE'D have gone to Iraq.

As an old-line conservative who pretty much hates the neo-cons' agenda, and didn't support the war either, I think you've got it all confused. Truth is, nowadays, lots of people just pick a team (Dems, Repubs) and support anything and everything their team does, from cigar-based sex-crimes, to extra wars when we already have one going. I don't get it either. But when you come off with that crap about not being 'true Americans', I know that you're no better than all the mindless neocon supporters out there. You've just mindlessly chosen the OTHER side. Big deal. Mindless support of any party is just as idiotic. Don't fall for it. Think for yourself. Neither party is ever 100% right or 100% wrong, and if you can't criticize your guy once in a while, you're bound to see your nation destroyed.

I am a conservative who has fought for this country, having been sent into battle (Kosovo) by a Democratic Commander-in-Chief. I even took a bullet in the **** for President Clinton, all in furtherance of a mission that was never clearly defined, and which had no real objective or end game. Under normal circumstances, I would resent having some anonymous internet loser question my bonafides as an American, but there's really point in an argument.

Maybe you should just say "thank you" to the many conservatives who joined the military out of a deep sense of gratitude and obligation to a country that allows us the freedom to make assclowns out of ourselves on the internet--as you've chosen to do. But even if you haven't that much sense, I would back off on setting any litmus tests for who is and isn't a "true American."

Everyone who is a legal citizen is also a "true American". It's ragged political discourse like this that makes that so. The fringe elements on either side are the most vocal. But they're hardly representative of "their side"... they've just bullied their way to the pulpit.

Yes, fringies from the conservative side would call for a liberal president's head if he or she were to do exactly the same things as GWB. But the reverse is also true.

So sift through all the B.S. that's spewed here and see if you can't learn something or teach something.

It sure beats standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square and then never being heard from again.

Too bad you only look at labels and not people or ideas. Liberals, conservatives, Democrates, Republicans...... They are all the same. If you actually read history and study the news, not just inhale the propaganda that you are given, you would realize that most Presidents of the last 60 years have all followed the same policies. They might repackage what they are selling in different jargon, but they are all the same. You will find that many of the actions of Bush were originally ideas proposed by Clinton. Clintons actions were ideas of Bush Sr, ect.... Try not to be a lemming and see the truth before you spout.

They would be. Clinton has oral sex and gets impeached. Bush starts a completely illegal and immoral war, spies on the citizens of this country, says that he has the authority to break at least 750 laws just because he's the president and what happens? Not even a single investigation. Let's hope that with the midterm elections that the Dems can take control of the house and the senate. It's the only way that we might possibly be able to hold Bush and his administration accountable for the heinous crap that they've pulled.

Neocons are just that: Liberals in conservative clothing.

Don't mix up a true conservative with a neocon. Most true conservatives agree with you that excess spending, the unneeded war in Iraq and not securing our borders is just plain wrong.

The problem with Bush is that a lot of people thought he was a true conservative only to find out he has: 1. Liberal spending policies 2. Is a Globalist. The true conservatives among us would love to compete in the global economy, but not the way Bush envisions we should.

Get your terms straight..

You just noted a litany of things the Dems have already done. So, you think the Democrats aren't Americans? Thanks for clearing that up.

In a way, you are right. Politics on BOTH sides of the aisle has become 100% about spin and not the facts. Democrats have historically been the bigger hawks than Republicans. It's odd to hear them talk against the war when they usually lead us into war.

I still remember Jack Kennedy on a national address talking about Vietnam (he sent our troops there, by the way), saying that life is not fair. Good men die in war. It is inevitable.

Now they act like they are eternal doves.

Democrats, liberals, or whatever you call yourselves already have on many occasions - WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam.

In all of those situations, the U.S. witnessed many of the same horrors by troops overseas (high casualties, prisoner abuses, rape charges, drug use, you name it). Spending was high in the following years. In two of those wars, the objective was not complete. Now the Democratic party has the gall to criticize a war that is far more critical with far less attrocities and casualties.

Yep, guess I should have known not to expect anything more from a lib.

I even might want to confess that the Palin tale is a narrative of fulfillment. They began with meager skill... and worked their way into popularity, politics and stardom. enable's not ignore that they were helped alongside the way, too. You and that i and something else of the international understand who the Palin's are, because of John McCain and his election crew. All that having been stated... fulfillment is not in simple terms about positions of skill, money and popularity. Sarah Palin is a media whore who can't get adequate air time. She is an opportunist who in simple terms flat out stop her interest because the governor of Alaska, once she become favourite, to make thousands and thousands of greenbacks giving speeches, writing a e book, and making a television teach. She has no theory of civic duty or the importance and honor of public provider. She is a low-existence.
