I don't see why not, but saying that female votes are the only thing that keeps the world from going "off the deep end and destroy[ing] the planet" is a little dramatic.

Women's sufferage is probably one of the main reasons we haven't gone off the deep end and destroyed the planet in my humble opinion. Women's liberation, on the other hand, is destroying not only the nuclear family, but women as well as society; that's a slippery slope.....

Women are far from equal. They still don't make the same as men, still don't have equality in many areas and still have to constantly demand a seat at the table so to speak. Like protections for African-Americans, Womens right still have a ways to go. I'm not saying they haven't improved, but its only BEEN since 1944 or so since they were even allowed to work in any serious way, and even in this country change doesn't come quickly enough.

Women are equal (but different) from men. In this country, it is vital that all people are allowed to have a voice. Suffrage is a very good thing.
Given the history of the world, it's also a sign of the maturity of the culture.

Are you serious? We couldn't call ourselves democratic if we kept half the adult population from voting.

I think that women have suffered enough: especially those with older brothers who teased them when they were children. ~<(:-)}#
