I am a Chrysler mechanic and have worked in Ford dealerships in the past and generaly with an ABS problem once you have corrected it the light will go out. At vehicle start up the system does a quick self test and if all systems check out it will stay out for the remainder of that drive cycle unless a problem is detected at which time it would turn the light on again to alert you that a problem exist,s with your ABS system.To answer your question if your light is on then a problem is most likely still present and you will need to have it checked out by a qualified service center.

Try diconnecting the battery.
