Bad? Of course not! Who could it possibly hurt?

But if they seem to have no control over it, or if it bothers them, perhaps asking their doctor about it would be a good idea.

It *might* be a symptom of a seizure disorder or something else that should be treated. It might also be absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

Without knowing anything else about the person I'd say rocking isn't bad for may be doing because like he rocking motion and rocking is done to give oneself comfort. Now if this person starts rocking violently back and forth with wild back and forth motions then I'd say this person has problems and those who care should find out by gently talking to the person get him to calm down and get him/her to talk about how they are feeling and if you care the naturally you'll be sensitive to their needs and perhaps if you think serious and this occurs quite often then get him/her into some therapy-Call your CommunitySerice Board-County-Blue Pages and they'll listen for very caring people and advise on what to do next.

My answer is that you should seek the help of a doctor. My father was going through the same thing, where he would just be sitting down and he would feel his body rock back and forth. Even though they said nothing is wrong with him (the hospital is terrible where we live anyways) I would still go and check it out!

Absolutely not! It is a natural thing. The first 9 months of your existence is in a beautiful warm spot. You float, ie. rock and are at peace.

Rocking is just a natural thing when a person feels at peace, or wishes that they had some peace in their life.

Everyone tends to rock a little.

I have a sister, and know of several others who have done it, my sister still does once in awhile she's 41 years old now and a teacher an pharmasist assistant...it's a concentration thing and nothing more as any of us who have witnessed this first hand can attest to...forget the naysayers, they are only Ridilin peddlers and lazyasses, too caught up in the problems of others to attend to their own

I do it all the time, and i think the people that say they don't do it don't really pay attention to the times when they are doing it. We discussed this in a science class one time and we came to the conclusion that when you are sitting in front a computer or reading a book, your mind is focused on one thing and you start to get tired or sleepy. Then you unconciously start to move around and wiggle because that is a way of waking yourself up. Your brain in telling you to wake up. (As weird as that sounds)

I don't really see nothing wrong with it, but if it gets to the point where you are totally lazy and wants to do nothing then it becomes a problem. you can't make something of life just sitting there. everything doesn't just come free in life if you wnat it you have to go after what you want.

I believe they say that is a sign of ADD. I think it is just a result of too much comp. and boob time. Limit the stagnating mindless zoning out. If this is a kid...give them something enriching to do like blocks, arts and crafts.
