Definitely attach it.

Attach it in a ".rtf" or "pdf" document so that the potential employer can open in regardless of what computer system or software they have.

Good luck :)

If they specifically asked you to email a resume, then send it as an attachment--- they would not ask for resumes to be emailed if they were afraid of opening attachments or did not have antivirus or word processing software. When you paste it into the body of the email itself, its formatting gets changed; they can't print it without the email recipient's banner on it; they can't easily store it outside of their email (like on a shared folder so more than one person can read it); it basically gets a lot more complicated if you paste it.

Attach as a word document - pasting doesn't work because between various email programs, it could get messed up looking. But be sure to do a personalized cover letter in the email body.

Good luck!

Copy & paste it into the email body. If you send it as an attachment, what's the gaurantee that it'll be received by the prospective employer? Will they have the software to open it? Make your first couple paragraphs your opening letter to get their attention, then direct it to your resume below. Good luck!!

Paste it, this way they dont have to download the resume.
In case of virus, employers prefer pasted over attached.

Good luck with your job search

Depends on the format. Mine is MS Word format, so I usually attach it so that it will look right. I would recommend attaching, as most companies have the software necessary to open it.

Paste so they do not have to download the attachment

Both. If they're not attach-a-phobic, they can print a clean copy. If they are, they have it right in the message.
