Thats incredibly rude, I know I don't know everything neither have I ever tried to prove otherwise, so why don't you back off and stop generalizing? Who are you to say atheist think they know everything when religious nuts think that they are the all knowing just because they believe in a god.
1. Have you realized you are the one that makes 'know sence'?
2. How are you not casting stones by implying we are retarded or have mental problems?
3. What lies? you mean the fact we look at facts not stories that are made up by 'prophets'?
4. If you don't know anything how do you come to think atheist are as you described?
5. No one has objections to you having your beliefs only your ignorance in thinking that everyone who doesn't is mentally off.

I'm atheist, and I don't think I know everything. I'm not retarded, well, not enough to insult you as you did while talking of people like me. In my opinion, it's you, religious people, who have a mental problem : you're believing in a story which is more unbelievable than any fairy tale, and you think the action of god can explain anything in this world. When atheist say things like "so, if god is good, why are there wars...?", your answer is always "god's ways are mysterious" or something like that. Come on, I mean, I know there are unbelievable things in this beautiful world, but I think it's a bit stupid to say "I don't understand this, this must be the action of a superior will" like you do. Don't you think it would be better to try to anlyse and study things, instead of giving god as the only possible answer. We, atheist (well, most of us), don't think we know everything, we just think god can't exist.
PS : don't tell me I don't know anything about religion, I've been a christian for years, before understanding how easily religions lead to intolerance against people who don't think the same way you do.

It is not nice to judge anyone for anything, lest you be judged yourself so harshly! Live and let live, you will be much happier i promise. Besides, by writing this question up there, it shows you are bothered by it immensely, it is more upstanding to show constraint than to be verbal of how you feel towards someone. That is very hard, its called self control. I go with the idea i heard a long time ago and it goes like this: Be careful that everything that comes out of your mouth is sugar because you never know when you'll have to eat it. Derogatory words have a habit of coming back to haunt a person otherwise these words of wisdom would not have come to fruition in the first place. Just trying to share some wisdom with you. You do what you like but just be careful what you say with others.

if you are christian then you shouldnt be so judgemental towards others, as for me I am agnostic and try to answer intelligently with a good supporting arguement. Really this is the reason why many atheists are turned off by becoming christians, they see that most christians seem to be hypocrites. I went to church most of my life and saw this throughout my life. I also know the history behind christianity and im sorry a religion full of people who murder others because they wont believe the way that others do just does not turn me on to christianity. I've seen to many people who profess to be christians turn out to be terrible people or someone who doesnt practice what they preach about.
Like I said you shouldnt be judgemental towards others because it says in the bible to judge not lest ye be judged. And yes I have read and studied the bible. I went to church ever since I was four up until I was 20 years of age. Please try to not be so presumptious that all atheists or non believers are ignorant.

I think that you have just run into the wrong people. I am an atheist, and I think that everybody is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to religion. I find it to be annoying when people try to push the issue, just let others think what they would like. I also think that there are two side to this, religious people can be just as annoying, if not so more......and sometimes they think THEY know everything. Have you seen the people on the streets praying to God? Or who try to pass their prayer cards out? And we are the mental ones? Hmmmmm

I should have known better. Anyone who prefaces her question with "not being rude but..." is probably going to say something rude.
I'm not an atheist, but I'm astounded that you assume "all atheists think they know everything." Of course, there are those militant atheists who insist that NOBODY believe in God. But you know what? They don't corner the market on obnoxiousness. There also are Christians who insist that EVERYBODY believe in God.
Then there are those atheists, Christians (and other religions) that believe everyone would get along just fine if they stopped ramming their beliefs down everybody else's throats. Just let everyone have their own faith in peace.
By the way, name-calling is rather rude.

I don't know but it seems they won't listen or don't have common sense. If that what you are meaning. You are never going to be able to figure out someone that doesn't think the way you do. It is unbelievable to you because you know the truth. The best thing to do on this site is not go over and answer their questions or comment on anything they say. I learned the hard way. You got balls to ask this question tho.
I give you that. lol
I think I would talk to someone in real life about question like these instead of asking them here....

I'm an athiest. I don't think I know everything. I'm not arrogant about my beliefs or lack thereof. I will have an honest and open conversation with you about religion without putting your opinions and your religious preference down, and without yelling or calling you stupid and ignorant. I would like to think that I am a loving and compassionate person, and if you and I were friends I believe that you would think this about me, despite our religious differences.
Please don't make mass generalizations about athiests. I'm not saying that you're being rude at all, but I could make the same stereotypical observation about Christians and have plenty of people agree with me. But I don't do that. Please give me the same courtesy.
Edit: I'm an Athiest and I don't know anything except that there is no evidence to support the belief in God and that there is no GOD! (Yes, this is a childish response to your added remarks, but my statement is just as valid as yours. THINK about it.)

The way I look at it is you have your faith, I have mine. The fact that it is different than mine makes no difference. Religion, like politics, should never be brought into a friendship. It should not be discussed and most definitely, should not be preached. Believe is a personal think and should not be used to judge another persons character. Even an atheist has a right to their belief - that's okay too.
