Remember all that the previous posters have told you, especially the first commandment about skipping the beer... I know its an avenue to check out the female poulation but you'll have plenty of time for that later... get acclimated first! I want to also say that you need every academic skill to be like second nature, or you will flounder... don't let that happen... make the library your best friend despite the conveniece of Google and the Internet. Better yet bring your laptop with you to the library every day for the fist two months of your time there... learn all you can about effective learning strategies (and practice them) then also as much as you can ingest about pertinent aspects of library science. Next, your intellect... develop it by visiting blogs and sites that speak to the development of intellect. If you don't lose your focus, you win... pure and simple.
And remember: the best way to honor the truth is to use it. Also, keep this in mind: Bad habits are hard to break especially if you like them (if they give you pleasure or immediate gratification). Just how disciplined are you? You're about to find out!

College life is never how the university makes it out to be. Don't be surprised if what you experience is completely different than the picture they painted.
Treat school like a 8-5 job. Get up in the morning (even if you don't have class until 12) and get an early start on homework. If you do all of your homework and studying between the hours of 8am and 5pm Mon-Fri, you will have the evenings and weekends free.
Don't party every weekend.
Save the number of a local taxi service in your cell phone in case you get stranded some place or get drunk and can't drive.
Don't worry if you don't know what you will major in yet. Chances are you will change your mind anyway.
If you need help in a class, make sure you go the the Prof's office hours or tutoring as soon as possible so you don't fall behind.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep. You will stay healthier and stay awake in class, all of which help you to do better in class!
Even if there is no attendance policy for your classes, go to class anyway. It will be tempting to skip, but you will fall behind very quickly.
Make sure that you are involved in a few organizations on campus. You will hear that a lot. But don't stretch yourself too thin. If you don't have time for homework because of clubs, drop a club or two.
Don't save core requirements til your senior year...
Make sure to take classes that sound interesting to you, especially in your first few semesters.
Don't be afraid to take a class of something you have never studied before. You might find something new you really like!

Just remember who you are and what you stand for before you go. Remember why you are going to school and don't waste your time and money. Study harder than you did in high school.
Not sure about the dorm, i never stayed in one. Spend time at the library to study because my friends that lived in the dorms could not get studying done with roomates around.
Try not to burn out so much take a break during the summertime.

1. Do not fall asleep first. If you must, lock the door to the room so that a**holes cannot urinate/sh*t on your face.
2. Stock up on condoms. If youre a freshman and your living in a dorm, any female that is willing to sleep with you is most likely infected with at least one STD. Dont be a fool, wrap your tool.
3. Drink Beer. If youre life is going to suck harder than my ex-girlfriend you might as well be drunk in the meantime.
4. Dont fail any classes, your parents will be pissed.
5. If someone in the dorm falls asleep before you, and youre the first person to discover it, you are required to either urinate and/or sh*t on said douchebags face.
6. Invest in a digital camera with video recording capabilities and carry it with always. Throughout the course of a three week period of time, you will catch at least one douchebag masturbating to broadband porn. Having this on video will be monitarily beneficial to you.
7. If it comes down to having to choose between alcohol or food, always purchase the alcohol. After you become drunk, your mind will unlock an entire myriad of edible objects/organisms to which your sober counterpart is oblivious.
8. You should sleep with your shoes/thick socks/sandals on. When the time comes that you have to outrun the police directly out of a dead sleep, you do not want to do it barefoot, trust me.
9. If you find money, keep it. God will understand.
10. If any person advises you to drink an unknown substance, do not do it. It is most likely urine mixed with semen, fecal matter and Jack Daniels.

The RAs tend to be pretty lax about enforcement. Although, there is usually one in every building who tries to get the most documentations a month.
Not sure how you're meal plan works, but get one with the lowest amt of cafeteria entries that freshmen are allowed. You're not going to be eating there friday thru sunday anyway.
Also, if you want to get the laundry done in a timely fashion, be willing to sacrifice a friday or saturday night. Believe me, it's better to stay in and get it all done in an hr and a half then spend like 5 hrs doing it during the day when it's crowded.

Yes i have heard because of the small closed in space that it a germ magnent. It seems that once a person becomes ill it stays trapped inside the building and doesn't escape easily. I think dorms smell like feet too. Good luck with your studies. Drink orange juice, buy air freshners. It'll be ok. Personally i think its better to rent an apartment with someone who can split the bills with you.

I kind of slacked my first year. I mean, I did ok. I got a couple A's, but mostly B's and C's, and now my GPA SUCKS! Definetly don't slack at all. Don't think that skipping that one assignment will be ok, because I ended up skipping a lot of them! I'm just going to a community college though, and I live at home, so things are run a little differently. Also, I didn't join anything my first year and I regret it! Join at least one club. Also, make tons of friends!

>"i've got seen shows on mtv of faculty pupil living on campus at school." i think of you watch too a lot television and have some form of myth approximately college college life! once you are going to the college to act out your phantasm of being in a "fact sequence", you are going to be in for a rude awakening! whilst and in case you get to a school you would be appropriate served focusing on your teachers. you will desire a lot of time to play and make acquaintances once you graduate!

If you've got a community bathroom, be sure to bring flip-flops so you don't catch someone's Athlete's Foot.
