Favorite Hip Hop is "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Lauryn Hill w/Bob Marley and 911 by Mary J. and Wyclef". Bob Marley's song is a classic and Lauryn does a great job of reinventing it. They are the kinda songs that touch your soul and really make you feel what music is suppose to do. I really enjoy watching the video for 911. It is true to its roots of caribbean vibes and the hip hop flavor. Awesome songs.

Favorite Rap is "The Light" by Common - I know it's kinda on the light side, but Common is a lyricist - god blessed him lyrically. I also love "Dear Mama by Tupac" - that is my ultimate Mother's Day song. Again these two songs have enormous breadth and depth lyrically and musically.

Favorite Reggae is "Dude" by Beanie man and Miss Thing and anything by Beanie man period. I also love "No. No. No by Dawn Penn. I could have said anything by Bob Marley - but that is a dead give away. Bob Marley will always be the man. I think Beanie man is awesome and this song has a wicked beat and what can I say I am sucker for that kinda man. The first time I heard No, No, No, I was in St. Martin on vacation and I swear I asked everyone I met if they knew that song and who sang it till I got a copy. Eve did a good job of remaking it with Stephen Marley.

During this exercise I realize that it is very hard to narrow down your love of reggae or hip hop to one song. There are great songs being produced all the time, some are mainstream and some you may never even hear about until years later. I love Reggae with a passion and I could name artist like Peter Tosh, Sanchez, Gregory Issac, or unforgetable songs like "Ring De Alarm" which brings back memories all day, but to narrow it down, common, there have been classics and slam dunk one timers we could never forget. Hip Hop's greatest are still rocking and some have retired, but many are still emerging and the genre is only getting better and better. Rap's greatest to me are fewer now, with Tupac gone, grand master flash, eric b and rakim not at the forefront anymore, but Nate Dogg, Nas, Eve, Dre, Missy and Foxy Brown are still pushing hits. So picking one is hard man, real hard.

I hope you are not looking for Sean Paul songs to be listed here because even if he is good - he is still too mainstream to be true reggae. True reggae artist for years have been denied their rightful place on the charts.

Fav. hip-hop track is "Ghetto Superstar". It's classic and fun. I also really, really dig Dead Prez's "Mind Sex" and "Psychology".

Anything by Bob Marley or one of his boys is pretty good for reggae.
