ok, I'm gonna stray from the popular answer and say no, he's not dead. Yeah, it really does seem like Snape did him in, but for some reason when Dumbledor begs him for help just before he "died"...I dunno, I just think something fishy is going on.

But then, you have to remember Snape promised to to the job himself if Malfoy couldn't work up the spine to do it....AARRGGHHHH I guess we'll just have to wait and see

There are still a lot of questions raised on the 6th book of Harry Potter and I believe that all of it will only be answered on the 7th book.

I am also unsure if Prof. Dumbledore is really dead because I do not want to believe that he is but rather than make wild guesses on such things, I rather wait for the 7th book, instead.

Yes, he really does kill Dumbledore.

He is drinking a concoction that has magical properties that allows the drinker to experience Voldemort's memories.

He does actually kill Dumbledore. Whyhe does or whose side he's on, we don't know.

As for the second question, the fact that it is a pensieve is a theory, but we don't know for sure. We have to wait for book & (probably in summer 2007) for a LOT of answers!!

Snape killed Dumbledure using th Avadakadavra curse...that's lethal....

the "vase" that dumbledure drank was just a trap from Voldemort to keep him away from the horcruxe...nothing more , nothing less

Dumbledore (as far as we are aware) is as dead as a doornail. the drinking thing is not a Pensive its just a nasty drinking thing, not V man's memories.

Dumbles is not drinking Voldy's memories...ewww.

I do believe Snape used a different curse on Dumbles. I have my theory on Dumbles' "death" on my personal HP site
