If you are driving in front of an ambulance and look into your rear view mirror, the word "ambulance" will appear written properly. Kind of clever.

often on the front of an ambulance, the word is written backwards so that drivers who see the ambulance coming up behind them will be able to read it in their rear view mirror

ambulances are going faster than traffic during emergencies so they are normally approaching from behind

mirrors do that reverse thing, you know

Having now known the reason, I don’t want to repeat.

However, I give my comment about the answer given by “ape 54321”.

The word “AMBULANCE” is not written in the order as written by “ape 54321”.

He has reversed the number 12345 as 54321.

But in Ambulance cars, each letter is reversed;

You can’t read the previous answer using a mirror. Verify that.
