People that prefer a kick start over an electric start worry me. Electric start all the way. Which is better for the engine? Doesn't matter.

Depends on the bike.
If you value performance in a motorcycle, a kick starter may not be for you.
If you just want a moderate displacement cruiser or standard, a kick can be a real asset.
I tried kick starting a finicky Ducati one time, I came away with bruises, contusions and lacerations.
My BMW and my Matchless, on the other hand, usually start on the first kick and I'm on my way.
The difference is the BMW will always bring me home.
But the Matchless always gives me opportunity to review some seldom used vocabulary words.

Kick start is better for the electrical system - starter motors draw a huge amount of current that sometimes pops fuses and buns out old wires.
Kick starts are also less violent - so the engine probably prefers them too..
Plus they're just so gosh-darned cool... :-)

Kick starts are cool, until you can't get one started.
Big bikes , go electric, - you wont notice the extra weight, and will save you some pain.
Small bikes, are easier to kick, and can do without the extra weight, plus you can easily "push- start" them.

There is no "better for it". The only thing kick-starting will do is not wear out the electric starter.

depends on the bike, kick would be preferred usually unless your a lazy one. It is easier on the engine and does not accidentally start when your kid is jumping around on the thing.

I would say that a kick start is better for it, but i use the eletric starter all the time if the kick start aint working. It doesnt really matter.

I build and ride old school choppers so all of my creations are kick only.Even when I chop a jap bike. I machine my own parts to convert them to kick.I probably have the only chopped kickstart ninja in the world.
