Wow, I can't believe that person posted that as an answer.
Suggestion for morning sickness. Before going to bed eat foods high in protien but light on the stomach like carrot sticks. when you wake up dont even sit up, grab for some more and some saltines dont make it into a meal but eat a good amount. Allow yourself a good 1/2 hour of laying down awake and sit up slowly. Eat regular foods throughout the day but keep eating the saltines and protien foods as well. Soups are good for the salt. If this doesnt work call your doctor and they can prescribe you something think it immotrol, but remember tking meds should be a last resort as anything you consume the baby does too.

Saltines never worked for me. Any kind of bread or pasta never settled well either. Too heavy!
Eat small meals if you can eat. Don't eat big meals, try to eat little things every few hours. Avoid eating greasy, fatty foods. This makes it worse.
If its really bad, you might want to do basically what you do when you have the flu. What I did was have chicken soup for lunch, didn't eat anything heavy.
Concentrated on keeping liquids down. Keeping hydrated is key. Drink several sips of water as often as you can. Getting dehyrdated not only makes morning sickness worse, but can lead to worse effects like cramping, hair loss, dizziness...
Keep a bottle of water next to your bed, drink a couple sips before you get up. And I repeat, sips - slowly.
If you feel that you are dehydrated (no tears, no spit, mouth dry), call your doctor. If your doc feels you are too dehydrated, you might need to go to the hospital and get IV fluids. This is worst case scenario. Keep yourself hydrated no matter what!
My doc suggested to me to take 1/2 unisom - not a whole one with a vitamin B supplement, in the late afternoon or at night. Unisom gel caps work best to cut in half. A whole one will make you sleep within minutes. But 1/2 can still cause sleepiness so it's best.
Emetrol also works, it's on my prenatal instructions sheet from my doc. 1-2 tablespoons every few hours. Personally, I'm not a drink medicine kind of person so I've never tried it.
My morning sickness was so bad that my doc prescribed Zofran for me. It's an instant dissolve pill (no swallowing) used to treat nausea. The info sheet on the pills says that it's also used to treat patients of chemo & radiation therapy. But it did work. This medicine costs about $3000 for a months' dose, if you don't have insurance so I suggest trying the unisom first.
One more thing, extreme morning sickness is also a sign of a multiple birth. When my doc found out how sick I was, first thing he did was ask me how I felt about having more than 1 more, before he even checked me.
And as always...when in doubt call your doctor. A wonderful nurse will always answer the phone or return a message - and hey, that's what they get paid the big bucks for.

There are some women who can have morning sickness throughout their whole pregnancy. How long has it been going on?I had a horrible week of vomiting up everything that went down my throat, eventually it went down to just once a day. You need to ask your doctor to call in a script to a pharmacy for you...he/she shouldnt even have to see you. Zofran is VERY expensive and it may not even work for you...trust me you dont want to pay $300 for a couple of tablets. If the vomiting is really bad, then dont bother with oral tablets, ask for suppositories like promethazine or prochlorperazine(generic name),its gross but it will take effect a lot faster and you wont be throwing up any money you spent on them, they are really cheap.Sometimes you may not be able to do anything about it,your baby will win the battle...sometimes the baby also doesnt like certain things you are eating, I couldnt eat anything with pasta sauce for 2 weeks,i'd get sick instantly.Drink some ginger ale and eat some unsalted crackers and relax, but its nice to have some medication around if you need it.

If saltines work for you, your morning sickness may be connected to digestion issues. The way I understand it is that much of the indigestion pregnant women suffer is the result of relaxation of the sphincter that keeps the stomach acid from the esophagus. You can soak up some of the extra acid better with a more absorbant cracker such as soda crackers or table crackers. Elevation at night might help you sleep. Best of luck!

Saltine crackers and sips of tea before you even lift your head in the morning. Seriously... don't pick your head up off the bed... roll over onto your side and nibble crackers and sip tea and relax a bit. It's the only thing that worked for me for a few weeks.
If it continues to be a problem, talk to your doctor. You have to be careful with the salt or you will start swelling up too much and have worse problems. Good luck for a healthy pregnancy & delivery!!! :-)

Try sticking to non greasy foods and eat many small meals throughout the day. Lots of water and saltine crackers help a lot as well, but I'd try the small meals. It's ironic, but you are more likely to feel sick when you have little or nothing in your stomach.

If it's really bad try Preggie Pops. I think that they are available online. They are lollipops that have antinausea medicene in them for pregnant women. Or, if your sickess was anything like mine, talk to your doctor about Zofran. It's a medication for morning/all day sickness.

Try crackers and ginger ale. Eat small amounts but as often as you can. Don't worry , it's normal and the baby will be fine. You've still got plenty of time to use the excuse "eating for two"!

Try not to let your stomach get empty. I kept cereal (multi grain cheerios) by my bed and would eat them about 10-15 minutes before I would get out of bed. That seemed to help. Bananas worked wonders too--they have anti-nausea properties.
