Pushit {live} by TooL.

In the original, studio recording of Pushit {it's not like the Salt 'N Pepper song, I swear}, the song sounded very much like an accusation, as though Maynard {the lead singer} was asking, "How could you do this to me? This is your fault."

Then the live version came out. And it starts out like this:
"We've been trying something
a little different this tour.
We've been looking at
one of our songs
from a different angle,
under a different light,
so we can hopefully kind of
see it almost for the first time.
We'd like try that for you tonight, is that okay?

We're gonna need your help though.
We're gonna need your help
and your permission,
so we need you to find
a comfortable space,
that is not only comfortable,
but vulnerable.
I want you to shut your eyes and go there,
and we'll meet you on the other side.."
{spoken words, haha}

It sets the stage for a very beautiful song. This version is more of an epiphany, a realization that the situation had two sides, that Maynard did have a part. Knowing this, he was able to find solace, but never wished to allow things to reach that point again.
