Because they're closed-minded, traditional people. I've got tatts and I'm a professional worker, it doesn't bother me if people don't like it, I'm happy in my self expression and that's all there is to it. So just live and let live, those people will live a long and boring life when they look down on people like you.

hmmmm-its not just women, guys get looked down on too. that's why my tatts are all covered up. if i want to show them off, i wear a wifebeater, otherwise they're covered up.
i'd be careful of the chinese symbols if i were you. i read a story once where some wannabe had chinese symbols tattooed on his arm. they were supposed to mean stuff like Fire, Strength, Power, etc.
After getting the tattoos he noticed people of chinese descent laughing at his tattoos. being curious, he asked what was so funny about fire, strength and power. one of the people told him that his tattoo actually said "At the end of the day this will still be an ugly boy".

For me tattoos is a Art so any body can have it,dosent matter a Man or Woman.So if a woman has a tattoos i find it sexy and dare to show her Body Art,to people.

Corporations like people to tow the line (so to speak) and not rock the boat so much...many co-worker do not want to be reminded of what they might be missing after their work hours...so some corporatoins impose a uniform standard...

i have a butterfly on my middle finger and i havent heard any employer say anything yet , and chinese writing on my wrist , i think the more the country gets tattood the less ppl will think thier bad , my doctor said my tatoos are cool.

because it's unprofessional, and it's not just women, men are looked down on as well. that's why you don't get it in a visible location
