The monitor is philips 104s. when the computer is started the screen starts flicker in very high rate. there is a rare sound coming from back side of my monitor.
I dont think its problem with picture tube coz each pixel is clear as before.
The sound is somewhat like current leaking . but there is no shock when i touch any part of it.

It is possible the CRT is going. However, you can try to simply lower the refresh rate a bit.

1. Find a blank area of your desktop

2. Right-click and choose "Properties"

3. Click the Settings tab

4. Click the Troubleshooting button

5. Click the Monitor tab

6. Try setting the refresh rate higher or lower than its current setting

7. Click OK until all dialog boxes disappear

8. Repeat until problem is fixed or all settings have been tried

If changing the refresh rate doesn't work, the tube is probably on its way out.

It could also be that you are sending bad power to the monitor. Try plugging it in to a different outlet and see if the problem persists.

This could be a sign of early death. You might lower the screen resolution a knotch to see if it gets stable.

I recommend that you start looking for a replacement monitor. Look for a new LCD flat panel. Order now from http://www.newegg.com. I recently bought an 19 inch Hyundai and am totally thrilled. That model is out of stock now, but LOOK at the reviews of others.

How old is it? This sounds like high voltage leakage. Is it pretty dusty back there? Don't remove the cover if you don't know anything about CRT devices!! This voltage can be as high as 20,000 volts!! Sometimes just blowing out the dust will help, but it could be the
"flyback" transformer is on it's way out. Hope this helps,,:-)=

Sounds like either your flyback transformer inside is about to cash it in, or an inductor coil in the power supply circuitry is failing.
Unplug it before you turn in tonight.

Check your cable connections. Also check the prongs. Maybe something's loose.
