Have you ever heard of anyone majoring in Nursing and minoring in sociology?Would it work to go to college for that and what kind of jobs could you all use it for....otherwise what would you minor in if you wanted to get your bachelor's degree in nursing and eventually specialize in pediatrics?

I have taken a couple of college psychology courses already and I'm not interested in working in the psych department of the hospital.

Sociology is an empty field. Yeah, it might look good, but really, why would you want to do that to yourself.
Based on your specific field of interest, perhaps something like Early Childhood Education could be a nice side interest. Or Developmental Psych/Child Psych, things like that. I still like the idea of second languages, though. Big plus in any field.

Sociology is a viable option - but psychology is a better one. It will help you a lot more in your everyday work and hospitals are severely understaffed with psychologists. You will have to deal with people with depresion on a daily basis and this will help you to understand them better.
I don't mean actually working as a psych nurse - it is an advantage to your everyday nursing interaction no matter which field you choose to work in.

sociology is definitely a good background for working in a field where you have to interact with many different groups of people. you learn to be sensitive to different cultures. Psych is also really good. but I have friends who have also decided to minor in a language. My best friend is a nurse with a concentration in spanish and latin american culture because she lives (and plans to work) in a community where there are a lot of people from central america. a second language always makes you a much more competitive applicant for any job.
