If it's been less than a year since you purchased your iPod, go to apple.com and send it back for repair. You'll have to pay a fee of something like $30 if it's been more than 6 months.

You can send it back if it's been more than 1 year, but you'll have to pay for the repairs.

If you can connect it to your computer, and the computer sees it, I say reformat it using iPod Updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

RESTORE the iPod back to factory settings. Then, upload all your music back onto the iPod...

If the computer does not see it, then contact Apple or take it to a Apple re-seller. It sounds like there is something wrong with the hard drive... Good luck.

You can look for help online at apple support. Here's a link to what they call the five Rs. If those don't work, there are other troubleshooting hints at this site.

If it's still broken, take it to an Apple store or contact Apple.
