Salem's Lot sent me searching for a cross necklace in the middle of the night when the tree branches scratched my window. Night Flyer made me wonder if there are psychologically homicical people who think they are vampires. I believe in ESP, and I have always thought it was a beneviolent trait. The Shining gave me cause to worry about ESP and topriaries. Pet Semetary made me cry and made my skin crawl.

My all time favorite, though, is The Stand. It is the classic war between good and evil. Really evil. On the other hand . . . Really good! You can read it as a global turmoil between good and evil. You can also read a more personal interpretation of man's inner struggle between good and evil.

By far, The Stand is King's masterpiece!

Well, it's not 'one' novel, but the Gunslinger Series! I like that it has paralleled his other novels; some of the characters of other books he was writing at that time snuck over to Midworld or wherever Roland happened to be at the time.
With great regret I am finally reading VII. I'll miss looking forward to reading the next one.

I also really enjoyed reading On Writing. I felt like I got to know alot about Stephen King and some of the way his mind was working at different times in his career.

I love Stephen King, I think he is fantastic. I think my favorite is probably the first novel he co-wrote with Peter Straub, "The Talisman." I'm not sure why I love it so much, but it is kind of an incredible book. And the fact that he was able to collaborate with another author and that together they could create a single, cohesive novel is pretty amazing. I think your favorite, "It," is probably the King book that scared me the most. Horrors!!

"The Stand" - the unabridged version.

I read it religiously during lunch at a temp job. I got so into the book that when someone would sneeze or even cough around me while reading it, I would freak out and think the person next to me had the super-flu! ;) (Ok, not really, but still it creeped into my imagination... good job, Stephen.)

He's written sooooo many good books! "The Green Mile" is one of my favorites.

I've read just about all of his books with the exception of the "Dark Tower" series. I think his earlier works were some of his best.

"The Stand" was the first of his books I read. He had me hooked from then on!! Have you ever read, "The Eyes of the Dragon"? It's supposed to be a fairy tale he wrote for his daughter.

I loved From a Buick 8. It was very Bradburyesque. I love books that are set in a world that is very much like ours, but just a bit stranger.

'Salem's Lot. It was the first book to ever scare me. I've read every book up to 'Gerald's Game'. Then I just couldn't read any more.
