china is on the rise and they are gonna be just as capitalist as you before they are finished, they gonna be richer, bigger and badder nothing will stop this, the only way america will be able to keep a stranglehold on trade is by war otherwise eventually china is gonna be the top dogs, a war with china is more likely to end the world than end the chinese aspirations of world power , so america this is a new problem, one you have never faced, china is not russia they aint gonna collapse they are gonna grow and grow so, are you scared yet or do you welcome a new world order where america is no longer dominant?

No American should be afraid of a new world leader or competitor. Competition in any realm always make the competitors better and work harder. Bring it on!

As a 3rd generation Chinese-American who have studied Chinese history, democracy could never work there. (We simply cannot export democracy.) That's 1.4 BILLION opinions to manage. Hopefully, the communists will always govern China, which is the oldest, continuing civilization in the world. United from tribes (95% Han Chinese; 5% minority groups of 56 clans in China), undefeated by time, famine, floods, earthquakes, disease, many wars, imperialism and the worse Japanese pogroms, vivisections, etc.; political strife. No religious wars though.

We Americans and Walmart have empowered the Chinese by purchasing their products. And so, we DO support the new China. As an environmentalist, I'm unhappy about the global-warming issues, but America remains the worse offender. EVERY industrial revolution is marked by pollution. Industrial China is a copy of Made in the U.S.A. China is very active in their global search for oil (in Africa and S. America). They will exploit those places as we did in the Middle East.
And still, the Chinese manage the world's 2nd largest Muslim population (after Indonesia) with great diplomacy (and compassion).

China deserves to be our best competitor. And they are brilliant about N. Korean issue--letting the insecure Americans wrangle over that. China could easily take N. Korea, and fire all its missiles (which aims constantly from Fujian Province) at Taiwan today! Did we hear anyone object to the Union Army fighting a prolonged civil war with the Rebels? Lincoln raised a war to preserve the Union.

It's no matter if the U.S. is the most powerful country (we can't even freakin' help our own people...Katrina). It only matters that we remain ONE of the very best countries. Proud to be American, and to have been "Made in America".

Yes, we are. There is no more exuberance. We will soon be Great Britain (sorry friends across the sea).

But we have a very good thing going here and that will never change. One thing people should never do is underestimate this country. That was a mistake made by England, Japan, Germany, USSR, and is probably being made by a lot of people right now. We are certainly headed in the wrong direction right now. We will somehow work things out. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but this is the best country in the world.

There is a motto central to the American Independence movement - "don't tread on me". You probably have no idea what that means and you certainly never want to find out.

Yes, we are afraid but not as afraid as you should be, wherever you are from...

I think it is a good thing. They are seeing how Capitalism works and jumping into the game! They are not threatening us but working with us, and I bet they will drop their communist ties and become more Democratic in the future. America isn't about being the baddest Nation in the world. We just became the strongest nation after the second World War when all the other countries were torn to pieces, that wasn't very long ago. As long as China continues their current trend of improving civil rights and doesn't start attacking other Nations, no problem. Yes, they are improving, slowly, but improving. "The entrepreneur is playing a game, money is how he keeps score"

Oh please! I guess that you're one of those goddamned communists or just an Anti-American? China can't be a superpower because they are not democratic and don't have free press, and the support of the majority of people for the CCP party. And its ever growing hunger for oil, which can put a stint on their economy. unless clean and infinite energy is discovered.
I know this b/c my dad suffered under the commuist's rule and i have experienced it in US. (Don't ask me). I had talked over this thing with my dad.
I know that Communist China and US will go to war someday, but US will win. There are billions of people in China and most of them aren't communists and hate the CCP, while there's only few million ppl who's communists at heart.
While I am a Chinese- American and love being an American, from looking at history, I know that the American empire is declining very, very slowly, just like all other great empires and civilization in the past. All dominant empires or countries eventually rises and fall, like the Roman empire. So, it's inevitible. China was great b4, but the emperors were stupid.
For right now, I think American gov't is the best in the world b/c the US gov't is a lot more honest than other gov't in the world. CCP is corrupted and there's no free press to keep them in check, while US do have free press to keep them in check. Look at Watergate.
I acknowledge that China's economy is getting better and the standard of living is higher, but there's still millions of poeple in poverty and hunger and being constantly in fear with no freedom of speech. But I don't think China with CCP party will become dominant. If they do, we have US to send those bad guys packing.
If China became democratic, then I don't really know what will happen, but at least the CCP isn't ruling China. They already polluted their environment and made their air so dirty that it even spread to other countries.
So, for right now, I'm not scared b/c I am confident that democracy and US will win over China and its evil communist party.
If China manages to dominate the world with its evil communist party and its policies. Then the concept of freedom and democracy will be greatly diminished and humans will live like slaves all over again. So i do not want to see this happen. And you wouldn't be able to post your questions and thoughts on this site and you'll be censored. I hate being censored.

China will face tremendous problems on a scale never seen if the price of oil continues to rise. Its industry will be strangled and the cost of its manufactured items will have to rise dramatically. An acute oil shortage could shut down a large part of China's industry, throwing a billion people out of work and set the stage for revolution and civil war.

China has no sure fire guarantee for anything. Even though its dictatorial government is permitting some degree of market capitalism, it is still dogmatically a communist country, and sooner or later it will stifle itself for that reason alone unless an oil crisis destroys its economy first.

Why would we be scared?? Nothing that you have said is any different than what we've been dealing with for decades. You need a history lesson honey.

Btw, if China was to ever become a superpower even remotely comparable to us, we would put them in their place almost instantly! China is not a force to be reckoned with, however, we (USA) are!

Its ignorant people like you that will prevent other countries from succeeding as you suggest.

You're a psychotic fascist and you have been reported!

There will be no advantage to being #1 or #2 no matter how powerful china gets. Despite its huge population, you can bet your al qaeda loving boots that china will be in the same situation the soviets were in- if they threaten us militarily we'll take them with us. It's called MAD.
