and I do not just mean the searching. The email, messaging programs, the desktop helpers, the toolbars, the widgets/gadgets, and all that sort of stuff that comes with them. WHICH IS BETTER?

Yahoo is a better overall experience - there is more to do including spending time asking and answering questions, apparently. Their search is not worse than Google, but it is different. Next time you can't find what you're looking for on Google (or get too many spammy sites there) try Yahoo and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Yahoo's Local product, News, My Yahoo, Mail, and practically all other products (besides the ads) are superior.

Google in my opinion is lightyears better than Yahoo. Yahoo has some inconsistent customer service issues. I have been a member since 1999 and actually subscribed with SBC/Yahoo when I lived in Cleveland. It was bad.
Not only is the google search engine better, but the gmail accounts hide your IP address making it hard to people to spoof your account. All the Nigerian scammers use Yahoo because if one account is shut down, they just get another one in under a minute. For gmail you have to receive an invitation or sign up through a code received on you mobile phone text messenger.
The Yahoo chatrooms are mostly filled with bots and perverts. Seems like they have many issues to work on to be the top Internet Provider they used to be.

4 em@il its yahoo 4 a good search in programs or images its google but yahoo has alot to offer like em@il tiz yahoo answers and other things google is goo 4 images thats were i get my images 4 myspace but its not that good 4 email

For searching means, always use google
however for other stuff, use Yahoo.

man, thats a hard one, but i go for yahoo, there are more choices, including yahoo local and more than google, (but i still like google)
